swamprat Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 Eastern Conference Playoffs Round 1 Game 5 Who would have thunk it? I figured the Flyers were done and this one would be another Pittsburgh blowout. Pittsburgh still leads the series 3-2. Sean Couturier scored a tiebreaking goal with 1:15 left in the third period, and the Philadelphia Flyers avoided elimination with a 4-2 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference First Round at PPG Paints Arena on Friday. Couturier shot from inside the blue line, past a screen from Scott Laughton, to give Philadelphia a 3-2 lead. Couturier, who leads the Flyers with four points (two goals, two assists) in the series, did not play in Game 4 on Wednesday because of a lower-body injury sustained in practice. Run To State Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 I wanted to watch this one, but was so wiped out I fell asleep. Glad to see the Flyers force a game six. I still think the Penguins will win, but I'm pulling for Philly.
neilman1234 Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 The last 5 minutes of this game were riveting. The Pens had chances to tie it up and even win it. I’m glad we have a Game 6.
Pop Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Well, it doesn't matter much anymore because the Pens came back from a 4-2 deficit to win this afternoon 8-5 in Philly and wrap up the opening round of the NHL playoffs in game 6. Best of luck in the chase for a back to back to back Stanley Cup run. (which I understand will be a tough task)!
