When Mercer shares the ball like that they are hard to beat. Trevon had 18 points was the 3rd leading scorer and mercer was up over 20 when they took the starters out. Taylor had 41 points and his team got blown out.

Mercer played very well all around. I was told one of the guards that played Saturday didn t play in the first meeting. They are good defensively....and as a team they shot it well.

Honestly I feel Trevon won Mr. Basketball before the season even started. He would have had to lose it by playing poorly or making a poor decision, which his character doesn't suggest he would do either of the two. His numbers are good and his team is good, but no disrespect because I love the kid, but most of Kentucky anointed Trevon Mr. Basketball a long time ago.

Devine did not play in the first game. He had 18 Saturday while hitting 4 threes.

Mercer connected on 13-26 3's, 18-30 inside the arc and 12-18 on FT's in this game compared to 7-21 on 3's, 17-28 inside the arc and 13-16 on FT's in the first game.

The biggest stat difference for Mercer was rebounding, had 40 in this game and only 20 in the first game, but Corbin shot much better in the first game, so there were not as many defensive rebounds to get.

Trevon does all things well. He sees the court well, he can shoot the long ball, get to the rim whenever he wants, and brings SO much energy to the court. Not to mention his attitude. You won’t find a better, more humble teammate than Trevon. Some of you may say “okay, what does this have to do with bball?”, but the kid doesn’t even have a Twitter. Trust me, it has everything to do with the kind of kid (and player) Trevon is. He would for sure get my vote if I had a say in it.

I've seen him play. He's terrific. Also seems to conduct himself very well on and off the court. Congrats to former Corbin guard Josh Hamlin. He has his team playing very well. This is a team that Corbin beat by 15 earlier in the season. Mercer simply couldn't miss early on in this game. It happens. Corbin will be fine. They will win the 13th, in my opinion.

I've watched Andrew Taylor play a lot of games. This might be the first time I've seen him take so many shots. He seemed a bit pressed, almost like he was trying to do a little too much. I know his stat line is gonna look good with the points but I don't recall seeing him try so hard to score. Is this how Corbin typically plays. Also the Rice kid hardly even got in the game.

Not at all. This game is a total anomaly. Mercer came out, shot the lights out, got up 29-10 and Taylor felt like he had to bring them back all by himself. He did try to do too much. 8-0 and 29-10 will get you out of your usual mode of play. Sometimes there are games when one team pounces right out of the gate and the other team has to abandon their usual style of play. In this case, the Corbin superstar looked to do too much. I'd say if the teams play again, it wouldn't resemble this game.

Per KHSAA Gillis had 23

Drakeford had 19

Devine at 18

Faulkner had 18.

Mercer had some games early in the season where one guy took most of the shots scored most of the points and it was some of their biggest losses of the season. Hopefully they have learned from it and if Corbin realizes this isn't the recipe for success they will be fine too. Corbin has 3-4 other guys that can score too.

All true.
