Seven officials will be good if each of them covers their responsibilities and don't try to officiate the entire field. The most irritating thing is some guy flinging a flag 40 yds across the field and saying he saw holding when two guys on top of it did not.

I have seen 7 games this year with 7-man officiating crews. The officiating is superb and the coaches have actually stated that they prefer it. Less is missed and you actually have less flags. This allows officials to focus more and they are not making as many judgement calls based on coming to a play at the last second (pass plays, blocking, etc)

No, absolutely not sure, I was given this info from a local official. My point, that atm10 is debating, is that officials that call state championship games are not crews that have not called together as a team all year, matters not to me if they called semi's together or not, IN MY Opinion, they should take the best CREWS, and put them in championship games.

 

It is true that State Championship crews work the semi-finals together and in some cases they will even work the quarterfinals together. These are not "patchwork" crews...these are the top officials from across the state (most are college officials as well) that have no problem working together. They are at the top of their game.

You obviously didn't see the 6A championship game last year. That crew was obviously in over their heads and out of their league from the outset.

I actually didn’t see that game. There are games every now and then when questions are raised on quality of officiating, but what I said holds true for the majority

I have seen a couple of games this year with the seven person crews. I thought they were well officiated with a lower number of flags. I think nearly all, (and likely all) officials try to do their best. I do think that sometimes when officials come in from another part of the state they sometimes struggle with the size and speed of the teams as well. Some of it may just be different styles in different parts of the state. I don't know where the crew that called the Trinity game last Friday was from but I did think that it took the Trinity defense too long to adapt to how the game was being called. In an earlier post I commented facetiously that maybe the coaches should get tape on the officials. The more I think about it, maybe that makes sense. How they call the game does make a big difference.

Dude,lighten up, just because MY OPINION has been contradicted doesn't make it wrong, FACTS proved to be I was wrong about the champion being first game together for the championship crews, I conceded that but the rest of this discussion is ABOUT OPINIONS, and not JUST FACTS

All good, you stated as FACT on public forum that state officials were “patchwork” crews i.e never worked together, etc...which was dispelled by what really occurs and despite it all stuck to your OPINION, congrats on that!
