Beechwood at Dayton Predictions

Featured Replies

I really think you misunderstood what he was talking about when he said earlier in the season that they were looking for the big win. Yeah it would be awesome to beat Beechwood or NCC, but I dont see how at all that he could have been talking about beating them this year. This team is a program that he is still rebuilding step by step, so this year I think the big wins he meant was against teams like Grant and Lloyd. I know Dayton beat Lloyd pretty good so we know that Dayton is better than them NOW. But like if Lloyd beat Dayton then we would be saying how Dayton still has not beaten anyone they are not suppose to beat..So I really think when he said that he was talking about the teams like Grant, Newport and Lloyd not the Beechwoods and NCC because Im sure he knew they weren't at the level yet. Its a step by step process so the next step which he was talking about was beating those teams and they did win 2 out of the 3 with only losing to Newport...So all this talk about the "big win" should be over with because they already got those wins that they wanted to get. Now the "big wins" that they need to get is Bellevue and Ludlow if they want to make the playoffs...

And I think they will get both of them :thumb:

First if Dayton wants to beat/compete with Beechwood and NCC THIS would be the year. With their QB/Safety/Kicker being a Senior along with some other talented senior players and only 6 Sophs to-be Juniors next year, things aren't going to be better than this year anytime soon.

Beating Lloyd or Grant County or owen County gets Dayton nothing other than a W in a non-district game and the joy of winning. Plus we (okay some of us) knew Dayton had a good shot at starting the season 4-1 and would need an upset (there's that word again) of Newport who beat them by 40 last year to start 5-0.

Call me crazy but I think the "significant big win" referred to below is still a goal for the Greendevils this year.

"Our team has improved in the strength and speed factor which will help us compete," Lickert said. "We are still looking for that one significant big win against a team we are not supposed to beat that puts us over the hump from improving to competing."

Good luck Dayton. I would love to see it happen, but I don't think it will...

Once again I guess we just take what he has said differently, because as I said yeah Im sure he would love to beat the Beechwood or NCC's but I still firmly believe that when he said that he meant more for the games against Grant, Lloyd, and Newport. Because those are the kind of games they use not be to able to win. Yeah they were able to beat the real bad teams that they should beat in Owen County and Bracken but they hadn't been beaten the teams that I mention. Going into this year and when he said it, I bet he didn't think that Lloyd would be so down this year, so a win for Dayton over a Lloyd program is a team that usually they are not suppose to beat. It was also the same for Grant County and Newport. But they just couldn't quite get that win against Newport. I think if he was talking about beating the NCC's and Beechwoods he would have waited to say something about getting that big win for when the week of when they played those teams. Instead of saying it before he went into the stretch of games that a Dayton program usually doesn't beat and those are teams like Lloyd, Grant, and Newport... Im sure yeah he would rather beat the NCC's and Beechwoods because that would be awesome, but I just believe he really wasn't talking about those games when he said they need to beat the teams they are not suppose to beat...

I will have to disagree I think they will only get one of them and that is a win over Bellevue....;)

Beechwood 28-0.
