November 1, 20178 yr Have you watched the remakes of 1 and 2? Talk about ridiculous movies. I agree on 2 but 1 was really good. It's probably my #2 of all the Halloween movies.

November 1, 20178 yr Well he is the creator of it, so yes He also created the world famous theme music. Apparently they are making another sequel with Jamie Lee Curtis. I saw a documentary on the making of Halloween. Was really interesting. Their first screening of the finished film did not have the music. Was not well received. Carpenter went back and added the music and the rest is history. They showed a little of it without the music. Definitely not the same movie.
November 1, 20178 yr I didn't like how they tried to humanize Myers in 1. I guess that's what I really liked about it. Showed him evolve from a somewhat normal boy into pure evil.
November 1, 20178 yr Author I guess that's what I really liked about it. Showed him evolve from a somewhat normal boy into pure evil. That's fair. I just always saw Michael as just pure evil from birth and that he wasn't turned evil due to being in a broken family and suffering abuse. In Carpenters movie, Myers comes from what appears to be a simple middle class family. The stark contrast between the two is what I didn't like.
November 1, 20178 yr My rankings of the original 8. 1. Halloween (1978) 2. Halloween II (1981) 3. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) 4. Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998) 5. Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989) 6. Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995) 7. Halloween: Resurrection (2002) 8. Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) Halloween, Halloween II, 4, 5 and H20 are classics. Season of the Witch, Curse of MM, and Resurrection are just bad. 1. Halloween (1978) 2. Halloween II (1981) 3. Halloween H20 (1998) 4. Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers (1995) 5. Halloween 4: The Return Of Michael Myers (1988) 6. Halloween 5: The Revenge Of Michael Myers (1989) 7. Halloween: Resurrection (2002) 8. Halloween III: Season Of The Witch (1982) - I really like The Curse Of Michael Myers, probably more so than other fans.
November 1, 20178 yr My biggest gripe with the series overall (other than some bad, bad movies) is how they tried to explain Michael Myers. In the original, he was just a guy that escaped a mental institution, and he could be anywhere. He had no motive, but then that was explained away in Part 2 when his being Laurie's brother became the central point of the rest of the films. Would have been better to have fewer films and he's just this terrifying man.
November 1, 20178 yr If you are a fan of the series, I would encourage you to look up the script Kevin Williamson (creator of the Scream series) wrote for the film. It was much better than what they ended up doing, although I really enjoyed H20.

To each his own I guess. I'll still watch it if it's on but I like 4 and 5 better.

On that note I'll be curious to see what they do with the new movie in 2018 it's supposed to pick up from the end of the first movie like the rest of the sequels never happen.
November 1, 20178 yr I'm going to go look it up right now. It's been years and years since I read it, but I really liked it.
