The Lady Stangs and Lady Camels played to a 0-0 tie for 52 minutes and 12 seconds, before Lydia Kramer knocked home a loose ball in front of the Campbell County goal, giving her Lady Camels a 1-0 lead, which felt like it might be enough on this night when goals were hard to come by.

However, 11 minutes and 19 seconds later, a scrum ensued in front of the Brossart goal and Freshman, Rosie Jump, returned the loose ball goal favor, knotting the contest 1-1, resulting in two five minute "Golden Goal" overtime periods and a series of PKs (Penalty Kicks) that determined the outcome.

Tournament MVP, Keeper Mariah Frommeyer rejected a pair of Campbell County PK attempts, and when the keeper herself planted her PK opportunity in the back of the net, the Lady Stangs had pulled the major upset and defended the 37th District Title earned a year previous in PKs.

For Brossart this was only our fifth win of the season and avenged an earlier season 6-0 loss.

Both teams will advance to next week's 10th Region Tournament at George Rogers Clark High School.

Title should read - Bishop Brossart 2 Campbell County 1 (PK Shootout)

Would a mod kindly correct my short-sightedness.

Campbell County has a lot of injuries. They started the game with 3 starters on the bench and lost another early in the game. They have had to bring up girls from JV to help out.

Our Camels will win the one that counts...... and lets play basketball!

I suggest you ask the girls on both teams if this game counts for something. Basketball season is right around the corner and there is a specific forum for these types of comments. Have a nice day!

WOW- that's all I can say

Salty!

Congrats to the Lady Stangs. That's a huge win. Disclaimer: I did not go to the game but I have a general observation. 1. Brossart earned this win and deserve to be district champs. 2. I don't care if CC had injured starters or not, they shouldn't have lost this game. This is the same old typical squad that CC has each year. They'll have a nice record, beating up on cupcakes in the 10th region, yet losing 90% of their games against 9th region opponents and also SK. Every year, come tournament time, the offensively challenged Camels will fall short yet again. 3. The previous statement is not an indictment on past and current Lady Camels players. It's an indictment of an inept coaching staff/system that produces the same dismal end-of-season results year after year. These girls deserve better.
