I agree it seems like too many moving parts. It seems that a player has been at one position all summer and then he's learning a new position every week. Tough to be consistent. Leaning on a freshman to run and catch the ball seems desperate. Maybe at 0 - 3 Borchers is.

This game is huge for Cooper. It would be foolish of the Camels to take the Jags lightly. Campbell County can be its own worst enemy at times and if they aren't mentally sharp, Cooper could still steal this one. If the Camels are ready to play, they should cruise in this one.

Agreed...& Players been told they Starting @ 1 position on Thursday & Borchers changes everything @ gametime. No consistence & grabbing @ straws thinking freshman is the answer @ rb... Whitchy's gained more yards by far this season than an other RB... I hate to see there's some good Jrs ready to walk away & not play next season. If changes are made quickly I could see Cooper Ftball program headed in the wrong direction.

I am dealing with this situation with my son right now. Borchers is testing a number of the junior/senior players right now and by the posts in this forum appears that some of the players are failing. Instead of stepping up and taking charge of their situation, it looks like some are just complaining and threatening to quit. Sounds so cliche for this millennial snowflake generation.

 

Yes the team is 0-3. It very well could have been much different but giving up 10+ turnovers in the first two games will kill most teams. Plus they met a CC team that is probably one of the best in decades. At this point Cooper has 7 games left and has enough talent to be 7-0 but so much lack of confidence/conviction/leadership they could very well go 0-7.

 

Like I said at the beginning, it appears to me that Borchers is testing the older players. So you got replaced by a backup (including freshmen) - go earn your starting position back. This means going out on the scout team and showing where you belong. He is looking for leaders to step up, not whiners who threaten to quit.

 

These junior/senior "star" players have to step up now or this season is over and he might as well start playing the younger players and look to future years.

I agree...most teams in nky could have an average game & still beat Cooper. Cov Cath JV in 2nd half still held Cooper scoreless & Cooper left several Varsity players in the 2nd half.

I hope they are able to pull out 3 of the final games w/Wins, yet I've never seen a WINNING TEAM change up the line up, etc weekly & be successful. I wouldn't overlook coach Borchers or the Cooper team in this one.

Coaches game plan everything and after coaching with Coach Borchers for 8 years at Cooper, and being with some of the current coaches on this staff, you literally have no idea what you're talking about if you think these guys aren't gameplanning and sticking to it. I have seen Coach Borchers make changes on Thursdays before a game with personnel... and 100% of the time it was an effort/attitude issue with a player.

 

Do you want to know what can kill a program? Parents that don't buy in. Parents that think Jimmy or Joey should be playing because they see with their hearts and not their eyes.

 

I'm no longer associated with the Cooper program as I'm out of coaching all together, and what I say doesn't reflect what the Cooper coaches feel. But I can tell you this, if you think you have the answers, get into coaching. Put in the multitude of hours that go into developing kids, studying film, being away from your family... and do it all so people can get on a forum and bash every move you make while essentially knowing 0% of your game plan or what you're trying to accomplish.

 

To any players who get on here and read this, buy into your coach, buy into the program, and buy into the pride that comes with wearing the Jaguar uniform. This is a program that in ten years has accomplished more than some programs have accomplished in thirty. If you've lost your spot, earn it back. If you've won a spot, don't give it up. You have one of the top head football coaches in the state leading you with a staff that will work as hard as possible to make you successful.

It's difficult to support a coach that tells players on Thurs they are starting, then Fri they don't. ( Has happened to 4-5 players) & Borchers didn't communicate to any of them why he "changed his mind/basically lied to teenagers faces". Coaches & ppl lose all credibility when they aren't honest & communication is key. 4. I understand commitment & time consuming...Yet let's remember it's A PAID JOB, not a hobby coaching HS Ftball... I hope I'm wrong, yet see the polls & rankings. Cooper started season ranked 5th...3 weeks later not in the top 10. I hope they can turn this 0-3 start around.

Did the players ask why they were benched? I'm guessing not. I'm going to call the bluff on whoever told you that as well seeing as every time Coach Borchers made a change, he told the players why. EVERY TIME. As for it being a paid job.. do you know how much coaches make? Here I'll tell you. I had 8 years of coaching experience, was a coordinator, and I received a pre tax lump sum of... ready for it?! $4,100. After taxes, I cleared 2,400. Coaches lose money coaching. They do it because they love it. They do it to impact kids lives. When I left coaching I wanted to know that one day, a kid would go through a hard time but come out on top because of the values they learned in football.

 

This is a young team that will take its lumps and end up being very good down the road but they need support from parents. Remember this is high school ball, let the kids have fun and make memories playing and EARNING their right to step in between the white lines.

U were definitely an assistant....because Head coach makes way more. & To answer your question....Yes I'm totally sure 3 players went & asked Borchers.... & all 3 times there was no valid reason as to anything players did wrong...& He just changed his mind before the game & didn't communicate that to the players. It's clear to see u r a Borchers fan... that's ok...every coach needs fans & supports...yet the players deserve to be told the truth up front. I'm going end the conversation here...if you'd like to chat after 3 more games & continue to discuss this that would be great. Just make sure u r watching the games...if not really no need to discuss this downhill spiral for Jags....Hope they start turning it around & wish them the best
