BluegrassPreps Class 6A Football Rankings (9/4) Discussion

Featured Replies

Class 6A

It looked like the Shamrocks were about to be plucked. Trailing by a large deficit and struggling to stop Moeller (OH), the flagship program for the Bluegrass State was on the ropes. Instead Trinity rallied to claim their third consecutive win in interstate competition. Trinity will keep it local as they renew the rivalry with #4 Male. Moeller won't leave the picture just yet, they still have one more challenge to own up to as Scott County gets their turn fresh off a win, scratch that, a massacre of Highlands. St. Xavier planted their flag and justified their ranking by beating Bowling Green, so things should be a bit easier against another 5A foe, Fairdale.

1. Trinity at #4 Male

2. St. Xavier vs. 5A Fairdale

3. Pleasure Ridge Park vs. North Hardin

4. Male vs. #1 Trinity

5. Scott County vs. Moeller (OH)

6. Simon Kenton vs. 5A Dixie Heights

7. Butler vs. 5A #4 Fern Creek

8. Manual vs. 4A Western

9. Ryle at 5A #9 Highlands

10. Ballard at 3A #4 Central

Not sure if PRP should have jumped Male, but otherwise I think it looks about right. How far would SC fall if they get clobbered by Moeller?

How high will SC rise if they beat Moe by more than 8?

While it's a nice thought, they won't. I would like to see them do that, i think they are too run heavy to do it. Their passing game is not where it needs to be to beat them in my mind. I could be wrong, but I would doubt it.

If they win by more than 8 then they may deserve to be up there ahead of T, but giving up as many points as they did to Lafayette who just got blanked by LexCath. Then even if they get their offense going (which I do not expect to happen) they will struggle to keep pace with Moe's offense. If Lafayette can put 21 on them, Moeller is putting at least 42-49 on them.

Didn't anyone ever teach you all not to compare scores?? SMH. Its all about match ups and schemes for that particular night.

While that is 100% true, it doesn't change a thing in this case. Moeller is stout on Run D and unless Scott County has developed a great short passing game they will struggle, because the play action won't be as effective. Moeller is big and fast, the trickery of SC's Wing-T will not make a difference against a team as disciplined and fast as Moe.

If I am wrong I will happily admit it, in fact I want to be wrong. I want there to be credible 6A title threats outside of Louisville. I am pulling for the Cardinals, i just don't see it happening.

That is a moot point however, as this is about the rankings. If SC is competitive they should stay where there are. I still don't know if I would put PRP ahead of them though, I think PRP is a solid 4 at the moment.

You are spot on peprock01,Moeller had too much;size, speed, discipline for SC. They are very well coached and are one of the biggest high school teams that i have ever seen.

Moeller 42

Scott County 7

I was going to go with 42-14 but yours works too.

I was concerned about Trinity going scoreless versus Moeller (OH) after two early failed fourth down attempts. The Rocks have scored in 265 consecutive games dating to October 1998.
