August 21, 20179 yr I have been watching the grills/smokers in area stores the past couple of weeks waiting to pounce on a bargin. They have been steadily coming down in price at most places. Saw $180 large Masterbuilt propane smoker on sale for $90 (good deal) at Wal-Mart middle of last week, didn't get it. Wen't back Saturday to get it but figured it was gone. Found it...marked down to $49. Jumped all over it. Got it put together last night and ran it for about an hour. Bigger, can run hotter, better built, better insulated than the old one I have that's broken, and paid less for it brand new than the part was going to cost me to fix my old one. DEAL! Lots of stuff on sale out there now, I'd be on the lookout if in the market.
August 23, 20179 yr How much JD ? As low as $35. They started discounting them at $74 around a month ago and I held off on getting one, since I already have the full sized version. Appears that the Ashland area Walmarts are now out of stock but they eventually dropped the price down to $35 just before selling out, which is crazy cheap for such a good cooker. If I had caught them anywhere near that price I would have bought a couple to use as Christmas presents. If you want to check for deals in other areas check out the link I will post below. Then use 52497353 for the SKU for the Akorn jr. The SKU for the full sized version is 40267083 Walmart Inventory Checker – BrickSeek Edited August 23, 20179 yr by JDEaston
August 24, 20179 yr My neighbor recently purchase an electric Masterbuilt. He made ribs for us, they were so tasty, I'll be purchasing one, I believe they are on sale for 150 ish.
August 24, 20179 yr The Masterbuilt's are great. For quite some time I've thought about buying an electric one and putting it in the basement, next to the washer and dryer and running a dryer type vent outside to vent the smoke. My better half thinks I'm an idiot for wanting to do that and has more less vetoed it every time I bring it up. To me it's a great idea, cook on the Akorn and offset stick burner during the summer, then in the winter use the set it and forget it method and pipe the smoke outside. Eventually she'll come around to my line of thinking, or I'll surprise her one day.
