GC kids are buying into coach Grizzle's system and love playing football again. Having said that, that system is basically the same one that Grizzle played under Randy Vanderhoof as his QB , the one that T.J. Maynard coached against and then learned more about teaching it as an asst. at Raceland before taking over as head coach.and now coach Grizzle coached under family member, coach Maynard when at Raceland ........ meaning "there ain't no secrets" :lol2:

This game was been decided by only a single point last season and was very close in 2015 as well. I give the slight edge to Russell with them being at home. 1 or 2 pts. and possible ot. Good luck to both teams and hopefully no injuries.

I'm expecting another tight one between these two. The last four meetings have been decided by a TD or less. Russell's won something like 15 of the last 16 in the series.

 

Greenup looked really impressive in the scrimmage that I watched, then they waxed Lewis County by 52 last week. Sammons looks like the real deal at QB. Greene, Halstead, Thomas, and Hunt provide a good group of offensive skill people around him and the OL has some size.

 

Russell's got to make Sammons uncomfortable. If he's allowed to stand tall in the pocket and make clean throws, it could be a long night for the Devils. Russell's breaking in three new full time starters at LBer and and three at DB. Grant Bates started this game last year for an injured Evan Ison, so he'll have that experience to draw from. Jaeden Layne also saw a lot of action in the secondary last year. But, for the most part, this will be like a pop quiz on the first day of school for a lot of those new starters.

Looking forward to this matchup. Greenup comes in blazing hot, while Russell is somewhat still unknown. If true, losing the Stump kid is killer for the Red Devils. I still think the Devils get it done with a late score in the 4th.

The absence of Ryan Stump could play a huge factor in this game. He came up big against Greenup last year with 3 sacks and 6 TFL. His presence, especially on defense, won't be easily replaced.

I think this will be a tight game. Russell has found a way to pull out close wins vs Greenup in recent years. I believe they'll do it again.

^^^ I'm hoping for a little more offense this year. Last year's game set both offenses back about 35 years!

I think Greenup has this one this year. I really hate it for Stump to be out his senior year. That's a huge factor in the game. He's a great player and they will miss him on the field.
