#1 Danville takes on 6A Frederick Douglass

#2 CAL takes on 5A #8 South Oldham

#3 LCA hosts a very talented 3A Waggener squad

#4 DeSales plays 6A #10 Ballard

#5 Mayfield travels to perennial Tennessee power Union City

 

Who's the most likely to begin the season 0-1?

I would say the least likely is Danville. Mayfield could have its hands full with #1 in 2A Tennessee, Union City. My best guess would be DeSales after Mayfield. Very early, I don't have a handle yet on the teams.

On paper, these could all be close games.

 

Frederick Douglass is a mystery, so it wouldn't surprise me to see the Ads run away with that one. CAL/South Oldham is probably the marquee game and should be highly competitive. Waggener's got a handful of future D1 kids, but I don't think they'll be able to score enough points to hang with LCA. Mayfield/Union City has the makings of a tough, back and forth battle.

 

There's no real obvious pick here, in my opinion. I'll go with DeSales, based on the fact that Ballard is a top 10 6A team that returns a great QB and they beat the Colts last year.

I say they all win. My Cardinals are playing a TN power so .... I can't say it.

I think Mayfield is MOST LIKELY to lose, but I'm not predicting a loss.
