August 15, 20179 yr I purchased Oakley's off of Groupon for $80. They were advertised as the actual Oakley brand and when I received them yesterday they were a knock off brand. I contacted Groupon to try to get my money back. I couldn't find a phone number at the time so I started a live chat with someone. He told me that I had to contact the seller and remedy the problem. I contacted the seller and got a response that didn't make sense when you read it. The only thing I got out of it was to send a picture. When you submit a claim to the seller Groupon wants you to communicate through Groupon website so they can track and make sure everything is accurate. Well I couldn't figure out how to send a picture to seller, so I started another live chat. The person I received was not helpful at all she didn't answer my question and told me to contact the seller, I stated that is what I already did and I am trying to post a picture. She said I cant help you sorry??? I am frustrated now and I cant find a phone number to actually call Groupon, I have tried two numbers when I googled it but they are disconnected. Has anybody had problems like this in the past or have any ideas on what to do?
August 15, 20179 yr Shouldn't need to call. Groupon goods returns can be initiated through the website (with exceptions--like if it was bought through a third party site, is a final sale item, or is over 14 days) Not sure if you have seen this, but here's a link the walks you through the return process. It's pretty simple and shouldn't require any picture or anything out of the ordinary. I've done this before and it worked exactly like the video describes. **Edit--After re-reading your post, it sounds like the purchase was made through a 3rd party site. I'm not sure that this video is much of a help.

I will see if I can try to return it but I guess my next course of action is to dispute the charge. Groupon customer service is not very helpful. I appreciate your help.
August 15, 20179 yr Never used Groupon was always told it was a scam. Groupon is legit and was often (and still can be)a great deal for customers. They are the only one left of the Daily Deal sites (Living Social and Dealchicken were the other big two in the space). However, the industry died simply because it was a bad deal for the merchants. Pre-selling goods/services at 40-50% off and splitting the income with the Groupon (or whoever the deal site was) generated a lot of traffic, but often cost merchants big bucks in the name of advertising. Merchants struggled with huge traffic spikes and often provided less than stellar service because of the spikes. The hope was people would buy the "Deal", like it, and then come back more often. Unfortunately, it created a bunch of deal hounds that only purchased deals, and merchants began to rely on deals to maintain traffic. While you got a short term bump in cash, you paid the price later down the road when you had to pay for stuff you sold during the deal, creating a death spiral. Groupon managed to survive the daily deal crash through adding Groupon Goods and doing more favorable deals towards for merchant. However, customer service has always been lacking, and quite a few less than legitimate businesses used Groupon to move their sketchy goods and services (much like this example).

August 15, 20179 yr Use it frequently. Just ordered a couple things yesterday. Never had an issue. I don't use it much, but recently got a $20 Uber voucher for $10. I used to work in the Daily Deal space, so I'm really familiar with how everything works. When I worked in the space, I bought lots of daily deals, and rarely had problems. And most problems are merchant related.

You print off the confirmation email from Groupon and take it to Costco to exchange it for your permanent cards. The rebates for the free product came in the mail about five days after purchasing the Groupon.
