I would like to see Scott County and Lafayette on the SK schedule on a consistent basis. These programs are SK peer programs. I believe SK is required to play Dixie and Scott as fellow Kenton County Schools, so no blame to lay there. Once you get to the second round of 6A playoffs, you are not going to have a depth advantage any longer, so why schedule programs you can beat a that advantage alone?

 

Scott is not on SK's schedule this year. They did play the last two years after not having played each other for a few years. I too have heard the board requires them to play, but I think it's more of a suggestion than a requirement.

3 non 6A schools on their schedule. Beechwood the 1A State Champ, and Dixie who was a 6A finalist a few years ago, and Highlands who has been the top program in NKY for years, all of which are in SK's backyard. And all are teams they compete with for kids. They almost have to play those games.

Plus many forget there are only 32 6A teams, and they play all of them in NKY so thats what 5 teams. They could see the rest during the playoffs, so playing them in the regular season could be good or bad.

Don't you think it makes more sense to schedule opponents that present similar athletic challenges to what you are going to see in the playoffs,especially since that has been what has been bouncing you out of the playoffs on a consistent basis? I agree you can find this easily across the river in a bus ride that is even shorter that Lexington.

Yes. That's why I said Scott County or adding a Cincinnati/Ohio team would be a good idea. Looking at their schedule, I think they've tried to beef it up. Bryan Station has been a competitive team more often than not, and Meade County was a semi-finalist 2 years ago. But yes, Scott County or Lafayette would be better games than either Bryan or Meade.

People are killing them for scheduling Beechwood, but Beechwood beats bigger schools all the time, and SK sometimes loses kids to Beechwood. Beyond that, though, there really isn't a game they shouldn't be playing on their schedule.

Why would I have voted as I did if not? Surely to goodness someone wouldn't go to threads that they have absolutely no interest in and vote in polls just to try to get a rise out of people. I fully expect SK to be the regular season champion of Kentucky again.
