Fulton Co @ Mayfield predictions

Featured Replies

Both teams come into the game with identical 4-2 records...The difference this year, imo, is Fulton Co has beefed up it's schedule from years past, playing the likes of Lex Lafayette, a strong 4a school and Lake Co., Tn, a 1a powerhouse in Tn., which makes me believe they feel they can compete on a bigger scale...I believe the Cardinals will be heavy favorites simply based on past performance and tradition, but, it wouldn't surprise me to see a much closer game than people may think...The Pilots #s are up this year and they've always had good athletes, just lacked depth..Is this the year, ala 1993, that Fulton Co. gets over the hump and knocks off the Cardinals or will it be a lopsided Mayfield victory..

I say it'll be close for awhile, then Mayfields depth will put a couple of 4th qrt scores up to pull away....35-14

I see the Cards comming out early and often putting the game away early. Mayfield wins 42-7 and the JV gets in some quality 2nd half minutes

This could very well happen, but, Mayfield has sort of a jekyl & hyde mentality...Up one game, down the next...It seems when they're heads are in it, they can be very good and when not, they get lax and turnover prone..

Well, Fulton County wasn't very competitive with either of those teams. Lake County isn't ranked, and didn't even get a vote, in Tennessee's Class A poll.

Fulton County has yet to show that it can play with a team of Mayfield's caliber.

Lake County use to be a small school power in TN but I havent heard of them making any noise in some years

Lake Co was the preseason favorite in rgn7, 1a, ahead of Union City, who was state runnerup last year..They were upset by Union City a couple of weeks back, blowing a large lead late in the game...Prior to that, they were ranked in the 6 to 10 range and in most preseason polls...They, in fact are a very solid team and will probably make it fairly deep into the playoffs....I don't think they are on par with, say a Mayfield, but, if I were to compare them, it would be to a Caldwell Co or some of the better, past Crittenden teams...

Lake County's last two wins ... 41-12 over West Carroll and 35-13 over Halls. Those two teams are a combined 1-10. Lake also beat Fulton County 38-13, a very comparable score.

Union City, which beat Lake, has three blowout losses ... one was 52-7 to the Milan team that Mayfield handled in a preseason scrimmage.

Key word to the Milan victory is scrimmage...Milans playing exceptionally well right now and there only loss was an opening game loss to 3a #2 state ranked Crockett Co, whos been very impressive...The West Carrol and Halls games you're referring to are region games that they have to play...If you'll do some research on both of those, the scores were very lopsided at the half and the starters were pulled in the 3rd qtr..Fulton Co was more competitive then those 2...

I guess if your point is that Lake Co isn't very good, I'll have to disagree..

I feel like the Cards will come out in this one wanting to play a little better than last week! Fulton County is clearly better, but I just don't think they can compete with the Cards.

If Mayfield scores early they may do it often! Mayfield one issue is stopping the speedster, which I don't think Fulton Co has any game breakers.

Mayfield-50

Fulton Co.-13

Yeah, I would say it would be more of a game if we were playing at Fulton County, man, that would be a scary place to play some foosball in the summer being that close to the river!! I bet there are skeeters down there that can pack a baby off, I don't want none of that, lol.

I didn't say that Lake County wasn't very good, only pointing out that they're not nearly on Mayfield's level. And since Fulton County was beaten soundly by Lake, it's a sign that they probably won't be as competitive with Mayfield as you seem to think they will be.

I don't know that that point is all the valid, either ... Fulton County often plays Lake County because of their proximity, and the Lafayette game was added this summer because Lafayette needed a game and offered them money to make the trip.

I was wondering how in the world they got lafayette on the schedule...

I think the Cards would handle Lake Co., but, it would be a close game. Traditionally, Lake's not on Mayfields level, but, probably closer than you'd think, this particular year..

I picked the score 35-14, so, I think the Cards win fairly big..I only said that FC may keep it close for awhile, but, the Cards superior depth will prevail..

Mayfield 35-7.
