July 21, 20179 yr Terry's Turf Club is my #1 and I think Zips is terribly.. o v e r...r a t e d...(clap)(clap)(clap-clap-clap) Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks, because my opinion is EXACTLY the same as yours...if you switch the two restaurants.
July 21, 20179 yr I think we will be on the prowl tomorrow. I've heard great things about the 50 West burger so we may be heading up to Mariemont.
July 22, 20179 yr Author OK so I headed back over to House of Orange in Covington to finally find out once and for all if they had a 1/4 pound burger like the bartender had said, or if it was a better deal than that like my friend had reported. I had high hopes, and honestly it turned out to be one of the best burgers so far of the 5 places I've been to. I give MOTR just a smidge better because theirs was seasoned a little better, but it was indeed a 1/2 pound tasty bacon burger w/ garden, with a fantastic big and greasy deep fried hunk of decadent gouda cheese sitting on top of it all....mmmmm... I could get into trouble if a whole plate of that cheese was sitting in front of me. Though I was never too keen that this fantastic historic brick building had been painted white, orange, and superman blue , I do believe that the inside is an impressive bright and clean bar that has something like 38 TV's lined up everywhere in every direction you look, and the beer prices are incredibly inexpensive. They certainly want your business because I don't think you'll find one competitor that has lower beer prices than them. They have domestic bottles at $1.75 all the time, and my Coor Lights was only $1.50. I think that most of their local brewery stuff like Braxton was more like $3. The one thing that I can really do without is the perpetual sound of Hacky Sack being played where every 10-15 seconds you hear the sound of the bean bag crashing against the board over and over and over :sour:, and in this big place it also echos. Dang, I didn't notice an outside, but I sure do hope they'll rethink that cause that got big time on my nerves real quick. Other than that the place is pretty cool.

Boy does that ever make me sound disconnected from the general culture? I had a brain fart and meant to say Cornhole, but I'm guessing that you already know that. :idunno:
July 23, 20179 yr We went to Fifty West today, the burger was delicious. It had their house dressing which is similar to 1000 Island with cheese, tomato, pickles, topped off with two strips of bacon and pieces of jowl bacon. I've been there twice and both times they have produced excellent food. I wish it was a bit closer to my house.
July 24, 20179 yr Terry's Turf Club is my #1 and I think Zips is terribly.. o v e r...r a t e d...(clap)(clap)(clap-clap-clap) Doesn't get much better than a double zip burger with cheese.
July 24, 20179 yr Author Dang...if I had only realized that Cincinnati Burger Week also had some sort of passport thing that if you could get four or more stamps on your passport, you could be entered into a drawing to win an ultimate grill-out party courtesy of the Ohio Beef Council. I went again today with some friends to Smoke Justis for my 6th total Burger Week burger, and it was over this burger that one of my friends had spoken about this passport that I previously knew nothing about. Too late now because you had to have it stamped when you made your burger purchases... Ugh :ohbrother:
July 24, 20179 yr Doesn't get much better than a double zip burger with cheese. yes it does...Terry's burger with everything plus truffles and brie cheese.
