South Warren 2017

Featured Replies

What does South Warren need to do to improve in 2017? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Jacob Lacey...takes a village to block this kid.

Been suspiciously quiet for S.W.

With the new move to 5A and just a year removed from a State Title it is kind of surprising.

Honestly a lot of pieces to replace on this team this year. New QB, RB and receivers, on Defense it will be anchored by Lacey but a lot of new faces. Key will be if the LB's can step up and make plays when Lacey draws more than one blocker. It's all been quite this preseason.

Schedule home Against Hopkinsville

Warren Central at WKU

Franklin Simpson Home

at Central Hardin

Grayson Co Home

Barren County Home

Greenwood Home

at Ravenwood TN

at Bowling Green

at Owensboro Catholic

A tough schedule for the Spartans this year not to mention the move to 5A and into BG's District. Could be a long road for South this year,

Provided Hopkinsville is whole, I see losses to Hopkinsville, Franklin-Simpson, Central Hardin, and Bowling Green as likely, though Bowling Green is the only one I'd be so bold as to call definite. I think Greenwood and Owensboro Catholic are tossups and who knows what to expect from a Tennessee team. Warren Central, Grayson County, and Barren County are guaranteed wins. I think realistically I could expect something in the 4-6 to 6-4 range for them.

I am curious as to whether Gavin Spurrier will factor in at QB during the year.

3-7, 4-6, or 5-5...I still believe for teams that mostly run the ball Coach Smith does such a good job with their run defense that teams are going to struggle to score a lot on SW. Now, if you throw the ball...

SW still has some good looking kids, but that schedule is quite the step up for them. If they are rolling and come into BG with 1 or no losses, expect a crowd and atmosphere similar to the 2011 BG/WC game which a good number of folks will say was the most packed game BG has had at home ever.
