June 10, 20179 yr So I'm taking one week of my vacation time in September. Monday September 11th - Saturday September 16th. Me and my wife (just got married) are going to Bowling Green for the week. We're gonna tour the Corvette Mueseum and then one day during the week we're gonna go to Nashville and site see and go to the Nashville Zoo. We were gonna go to the Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg but that's a 5 hr drive and 60$ for 2 tickets. Any other good attractions in the Bowling Green/Nashville area that don't cost an arm and leg? Mammoth Cave is probably out of the picture. I have came across (online) Kentucky Mueseum, Historic Railpark and Train Mueseum
June 10, 20179 yr Nashville kinda depends on what you like - MANY more options than in BG (although I would try to take at least an introductory cave tour). Tons of great eating places in Nashville. They have a spectacular farmers market with multiple eating options inside.

May end up doing the Lost Cave tour if it's not too bad expensive
June 10, 20179 yr I read not too long ago that the Corvette Museum may be closed for awhile for some type of construction updates. You might want to check that out.
June 10, 20179 yr Author I read not too long ago that the Corvette Museum may be closed for awhile for some type of construction updates. You might want to check that out. I called them earlier today. The plant, where the vehicles are being made, is being closed at the end of June and won't be open until sometime in 2019. Building some type of "special car" that they don't want to leak out.
June 12, 20179 yr Swope's Classic Car Museum (Exit 94 on I-65) in Elizabethtown is pretty nice. And it's completely FREE. You could always hold a bird or pet a Kangaroo at Kentucky Down Under in Cave City/Horse Cave area. It's right off 65. I hear Cummins Falls (90 minutes east of Nashville) is pretty spectacular. And I'm not a huge fan of country music, but you can't go wrong doing the Hall of Fame downtown and then hitting up Opry Mills (eat at Rainforest, Aquarium or Johnny Rockets).
June 13, 20179 yr The Opryland Hotel is a really neat place. A little over 3,000 rooms. Last time I was there, there were 17 restaurants and bars. The place really is amazing, it's worth a trip. The General Jackson Showboat is pretty fun. If you're in town on a Grand Ole Opry night. A bunch of the performers from the G.O.O. often end up on the stage at the Nashville Palace across from the Opryland Hotel. The Palace also has a really good fried bologna sandwich with egg.
