Scott County Cardinals - 2016 Grade

B

The Cardinals went 8-2 in the regular season with one of those losses being the controversial loss to Lafayette where the game was suspended and unable to resume. The only other loss was 20-14 at the hands of GCL Elder.

The Cardinals went out of District for wins over 5A Runner-Up Pulaski County and 4A NKY Powers Highlands (who was not themselves) and Covington Catholic.

In the playoffs Scott County eliminated a nine win Conner team 46-19 and outlasted previously undefeated Ryle 42-40. Ultimately they fell short in the Semi-Finals in an "Instant Classic" type of shootout in the re-match with Lafayette 48-47.

It is hard to argue anything other than Scott County was probably one of the Top 10 teams in all of Kentucky, but at the same time it is equally as hard to argue that they were a legit threat to win the 6A Title.

Do you agree with a B for Scott County? What grade do you give the Cardinals?

I think you are being tough on them. I give them an A- simply because they didn't win state. That offense was a well oiled machine. Give them a B on Defense, but that O was unstoppable. The only reason they lost or was that the other teams that beat them were a bit better on Offense, could score more. You knew what they were gonna do and they did it. I'm a Ryle Guy and I can't even say that the loss to them hurt. It was a great game. Of Course a win would have been better, but they won the game. They ran and ran the Wing to perfection. When they had to throw, they did it great too. (4th and long for a TD in the corner) A-

I would give A- for making semi-finals and close losses with good schedule.

I think you are being a little tough too.

I am in the B+ to A- range.

I am with the others, A-. B is a little rough for their record and performance last year.
