May 16, 20179 yr Author BAR: Catching up with former Reds Dan Straily. Straily has continued his success since being traded to the Miami Marlins, lowering his hits-per-nine (5.0, lowest in the majors) and goosing his strikeouts-per-nine (8.4). He has a 3.56 ERA. The Reds could probably use him, although it's hard to be upset with what Luis Castillo is doing in Double-A. Todd Frazier. Frazier hit 40 home runs last year to help rate him as an above-average hitter despite a low average and on-base, but that power has been absent this year for the 31-year-old White Sox third baseman. He's hitting just .173/.278/.316 with three home runs. He'll hit free agency this offseason. J.J. Hoover. Hoover made the Arizona Diamondbacks out of spring on a minor-league deal, and has been a reliable member of the bullpen so far. In 13 1/3 innings, the 29-year-old has a 2.70 ERA and 20 strikeouts.
May 16, 20179 yr Straily might work out for Miami, but that was a good deal. The Frazier deal has turned out to be great. I don't care if JJ Hoover wins a Cy Young for Arizona, I'm glad he's no longer in Cincinnati.
May 16, 20179 yr Pitching matchups.... Tonight: Arroyo vs. Lackey Wednesday: Feldman vs. Hendricks Thursday: Bonilla vs. Butler

May 17, 20179 yr Votto in May: .375/.516/.646 with 3 HR, 16 RBI, & 15 BBs. Can't believe he gets out over 48% of the time. Ridiculous.
May 17, 20179 yr Can't believe he gets out over 48% of the time. Ridiculous. And read this morning in the Enquirer that Votto is currently ranked #3 defensive 1B in MLB in 2017.
May 17, 20179 yr And read this morning in the Enquirer that Votto is currently ranked #3 defensive 1B in MLB in 2017. Probably needs to go down to Louisville to get it all worked out....What a headcase.
May 17, 20179 yr Probably needs to go down to Louisville to get it all worked out....What a headcase. Votto is a stud and that is even more reason that he should not have these defensive and base running mistakes.
