South Laurel vs. Madison Central Predictons

How do you think South will respond to a 56-7 beating by Lincoln County?

If South Laurel is throwing the ball every play and not playing defense, then this plays right in to MC's hands. The teams that do well against MC are ones that run the ball well and play physical defense. To try and get into a track meet with MC would be stupid, there aren't many teams in the state that can match their speed. Should be a good game Friday night.

IMO ...south Laurel isnt that good! We should have took care of them quite easily but ya know...didnt!:sssh: :p

Both of these teams are struggling right now...I willl go with whoever has the home field advantage.

I think South Laurel is a good team , you have to remember there coach quit on them during spring practice and they were off for months before they got a new coach. Nothing is running smooth for them. If they are to beat Madison which they can do they will have to get there running game going , no airing it out every play and they must change there defense!

Madison Central 42-6.

Can someone tell me what the most common defense is for a high school team is?

From my experience, most teams in High School will either run a 5-2, 4-3, or 4-4. A lot of that depends on who you are playing (primarily a passing or running team) and situation (3rd and short vs. 3rd and 15).

I am going to take South Laurel to bounce back from their beating last week.

Both teams seem to be up and down.... Who'll be up this week?

I think the phrase "quit on them" is misleading. The team continued to lift and workout as in previous seasons until school went out. They got most of the ten allotted spring practices in before Coach Irwin resigned to take another position in AL. Coach Irwin gave them 12 combined years as an assistant (two volunteering) and head coach plus four as a player - he did not quit on the team. If he had resigned during the season or right before the season started, then your phasing might be more accurate.

Other than that, I agree SL must be more balanced on offense, but with Quinn and McQueen banged up, that may not be possible.

What would you have done if you were offered the opportunity he had. He is 3-1 at a very good 5A FOOTBALL SCHOOL. He dosen't teach any classes during football season. He is paid very very good. He is averaging over 30 points a game and he is at a school that loves football.

I think "quit on them" is misleading. More like left them hanging IMO. But on defense I think Coach Irwin put in the 3-4 in spring practices. IMO we need to give them a brake and back them win or lose. Confidence in the team is a big step up.;)

They had better learn to tackle up front or they won't be bouncing back at all. Lincoln County ran all over their defense Friday night, although it must be said that Lincoln has two outstanding running backs. I can't see South competing with Madison Central. I could be wrong, though!
