Should President Trump sign an Executive Order to avoid another United tragedy?

If you outlaw it here, you would have to outlaw it in almost all service industry businesses that are based on reservation.

And I think I'd be okay with that. It's a completely dishonest and unethical practice IMO.

Then I assume you would be fine if customers for no refunds for any reasons whatsoever, for any reason? They reserved and cancelled last minute, or didn't cancel and didn't show. They had an emergency, their connecting flight was delayed...

You would not be ok with that. You'd be angry. And you would be angry if you heard airlines were denying reservations and leaving with seats unfilled and standby passengers unaccommodated. If customers want hard contracts on the part of the service provider, it needs to go both ways.

Please don't presume to know what I would or would not be.

Yes, I'd be fine if places chose to not give refunds. I just booked a cabin down in Gatlinburg. The company was very explicit that no refunds are offered for any reason. I'm cool with that.

Why would I care if planes took off with open seats? I enjoy those flights best.

Have you had a traumatic experience flying ? I see no other explanation for the soap box your taking on this issue. With all the problems in the world this grabs your passion?

Not at all. In my experience the Airlines have been very good.

As to why, I see this as a Human Rights issue.

I'm not sure why you are telling me what I am saying. Because I never said I agreed with the use of force to remove someone. I did say I don't think this is the norm. I did say the issue is in the customer service aspect first and foremost. And I also defended business practices I feel weren't understood and stated that said practices were not the reason for the incident.

If the Airlines can't use Force then they can't enforce this business practice.

Now for a third time, when a customer refuses to give up their seat in this (or similar) situation what is the proper course of action for Airline? Authorities? And is Force ever permissible when the customer is non-violent?

I addressed your questions in a previous reply.

The bottom line is if the Airlines can't use Force they can't bump you from a flight in a circumstance like this.

In other words, no, the Airline can't force you to get off the plane.
