If you need more than a million, you're not living right.

 

Being the young cat that you are $1M is not going to be enough for you if you are planning on living til you're 75 or 80.

Without working the rest of your life? No chance.

 

I wouldn't stop working if I had a million dollars. I'd still work until "retirement age" or so. There's no way I couldn't work for the rest of my life, I'd go nuts.

 

The million would be the savings account, the big purchases account, the fun money. I could easily go the rest of my life with a million.

Yep. Stress free makes me a really slow pro triathlete/mountain biker. I'd probably need a lot more than most. I like to travel, eat/drink expensive things, and have nice stuff.

Word, golf memberships aren't cheap.

The great unknown is future healthcare costs and living expenses.

 

I met with a client this week that provides in-home services for the elderly. It allows them to live at home instead of moving them to a nursing home. It can be simple like come in and cook and clean for them or it can be 24/7. 24/7 costs about $10k to $12k per month. They can't get to all of the requests because they can't find enough people to do the job.

 

Was your meeting with a former BGP-er by chance? I know one particularly well who just started a franchise that does just that.
