NCC/Dayton updates???

Featured Replies

What about it stickymitts? I know you can get the scoop, is it cancelled or continued tomorrow at 4?

I just called my son. The game is over NCC 28 Dayton 0. You were right.

Game over...28-0, no officials "available" for tomorrow...

That's probably a wise decision for both teams.

The field was quickly taking on flood-type water and probably would not be playable for Saturday or Sunday.

Plus with the close sideline walls players were sliding dangerously towards the walls.

No surprise about the score as far as I'm concerned. Probably best for Dayton to let this one go and save anyone from any serious injury. They have some important games coming up.

Can anyone explain how every game in NKY can get officials to reschedule their game for Saturday but NC/Dayton can not?

Where would they play even if they can get officials?

Field has to be near unplayable and with more rain due on Saturday and Sunday it would be even worse.

Beechwood and Newport and Dixie turf already hosting games tomorrow the only open field left might be Highlands and they have FTJFL games and the fee they must charge for the use would be expensive.

I can.....there are several crews that officiate college games on Saturdays and travel a good distance to do so. When they are given their schedules, they can't simply turn down much higher paying assignments and opportunities because there may be a postponement on Friday night. There is a shortage of zebras in this area anyway (or at least competent and experienced ones), so if anyone is looking to get involved, I'm certain there are openings.

You just answered your own question. Beechwood, Newport, Dixie, CCH, HHS...etc.

What about the jv games scheduled for today? I'm sure Dayton/NCC were going to play, I'm sure everyone else was too. A couple of games were cancelled and some were postponed. Also, a later start could very easily allow officials to make the game.

BTW, I'm not blaming the officials here...at all. There's no doubt in my mind that they could find five guys to do the game.

No, those fields already have rescheduled high school games being played on them today or already have other games or events scheduled on them this weekend. For example, events already scheduled for today at Newport were moved to Monday night and Newport may not even get their game with Grant Co. in today with more rain on the way.
