Top Teams:

 

Estill County - Engineers return the bulk of their team from this season that won 25 games. 4 starters, Caleb Bonny (probably will be the best player in the region next season), Joe Benton, Twin Towers Lane Doty, Andrew Doty. Plus have a strong middle school class coming in.

 

Breathitt, Hazard, Letcher, Buckhorn, Madison Southern, Jackson County, Garrard County, Wolfe County, District Games are all on Estill's schedule. Estill will also participate in the Bath County After Christmas tourney.

 

 

Wolfe County - The Wolves should be really strong this coming season as they return the bulk of their team as well. Best shooter in the region, Deven Stone returns as well as several other key players for the wolves.

 

Estill County, Paris, Lexington Catholic, District Games, Perry Central, Letcher Central, Knott Central, Leslie and Paintsville are all on the Wolves Schedule.

 

Knott County central - the Patriots lose star guard Austin Combs but return Issac Caudill as well as Cameron Jones that should put them in contention for region as well...

yes transfer season hasn't even hit yet then replacing the transfers you lost hasn't hit yet either.

I wish I could say differently but rarely does any school north of the Perry-Breathitt County line ever win the 14th region. The 56th district has only won it 4 times in history (Lee '68 and '73; Powell '74 and '03). Breathitt was dominant back in the late 1950s and early 1960s, winning 5 straight at one time, but they haven't won it since 1995. Almost every year the winner will be either Knott Central, Perry Central or Hazard. Buckhorn was the exception last year.

 

So if Estill County, Wolfe County or any other teams from the 55th or 56th districts win the region they will be overcoming historical trends in the 14th.

Hearing Estill may get some teams next season that will help them prepare for post season....
