Holmes 58 Cooper 52 (9th Region Championship)

Recommended Posts

Gonna miss watching #5 Anderson play for Cooper! Such an underrated player and does whatever the team needs her to do! Finished this one with 23 points! Jags had their chances but the 3's weren't falling and missed a lot of PB shots! Credit to Holmes, they took Lexi out of the game and forced the other girls to beat them and nobody out side of Hailey was making shots today! Cooper had a great year and with what they have coming back and a few younger girls coming up they should be fighting for another regional birth and potential championship. Congrats Holmes on the win and to Cooper for having a fantastic year

I'll never understand why the Dawgs try to kill clock, they looked awful doing it.......sooner or later it will come back to haunt them........drive or feed Englemon down low, can't be stopped.

My guess is because of their lack of depth they try to shorten the game to keep out of foul trouble and reserve energy for when they do attack on defense. So if they can shorten the game, it minimizes the time they can potentially get in foul trouble and shorten the time in the game when they have to pressure on defense. If they shorten the game, it's a win for them because they feel when they can play their style, regardless of how long of a time that is, the most likely feel they play to their advantage.

I get that........but Lord have mercy, at times it's painful to watch.

Bench development throughout year might have solved that issue. Nonetheless, really hope the Dawgs go far, love the energy they play with......when at full speed.

Congrats to Holmes, winning back to back is really special with all the really good teams in the 9 th region. I know there has been better individual players in the history of the region, but I can't remember anyone playing any harder on both ends of the court than Miss Stoval, really fun to watch. The Jags had one heck of a team and are very well coached and had a great year, congrats to them and especially the seniors. Good luck to Holmes in the state tournement.

Love watching Stovall, Englemon and Johnson play. They play hard, fast and with a ton of passion!

Good luck! Rooting for the Dawgs here on out!

Well and SK, but I think they will end up playing each other and I'd have to pull for the 9th in that one!

Holmes earned this region title with a close semi-final game and then today. They had a real chance to put some distance between them and Cooper and got up 13 at one point and then missed a point blank layup and a few free throws.

I really don't have a problem with Holmes putting the ball on their hip at times. If you got the lead and are as thin as they are you can shorten the game. If the other team comes out of their zone then you can attack off the dribble. They just have to get the ball in their ballhandlers hands and they should be OK.

Holmes really spread the wealth and their best three point shooter had an off game in the semis and the finals.

I thought the Keith girl played really well and got some rebounds, altered some shots and did the little things.

How about the Beckett gal off the bench for the Bulldogs. Huge three in the semis and another big three tonight to stem a Cooper run.

Jaynice Stovall just gets after it and can really handle the ball. Englemon showed a solid post up game tonight and owned the boards. Laila Johnson is fun to watch. Did a heckuva job in making Held work and came up with big play after big play.

Congrats to Coach Perkins on the back to back titles.
