Final from Boyle. A little surprised by this one they way Boyle had been playing lately.

Boyle County looked like they were in a mental funk last night. They looked like they didn't want to be there. They had a 12 point lead in the first half and a 10 point lead in the second half. They scored one basket in the fourth quarter. They looked out of it mentally. Not sure why or what was going on but it looked bad from top to bottom last night. They better fix it or they'll be done in the first game of the district tournament on their home floor.

Boyle is definitely better than this game suggests. Hopefully they will bounce back strong.

Agreed. Last night was disappointing but I don't expect it to become a pattern.

West also beat Mercer at West and for the life of me, I can't understand how they can beat two teams that imo are much better teams and then loose some of the games they've lost. Pre season I felt like West Jess would probably be around the 4th or 5th best in the 12th, but outside of the two games I mentioned, they certainly have not live up to those expectations!

Agreed. I had them as the best team in the 46th before the season started but I feel like Mercer County has proven to be the best in the 46th.

Ugly night....8 point 2nd quarter and 7 point 4th quarter.

I think West has struggled because:

1) Loss of two seniors, one transfer and one injury.

2) They have lived and died by the trap and have struggled with half-court execution on both ends, they struggle with getting a good shot at a slower pace.

3) Finding chemistry can take time, and shot selection has been shaky at times (but has been improving recently).

 

Come strong with the ball, spread them out and attack out of the traps and you get layups and open 3’s. Play at their frenetic pace and/or be loose with the ball too often and they can beat you.

 

They are figuring some things out, though, perhaps coming together, and two wins in a row vs. good teams (Madison Southern and Boyle) will certainly boost confidence. They'll need it, tough schedule down the stretch.

Isaiah Okesson passed the 1,000 point mark last night with his first points of the game. Anyone who has watched him play has likely enjoyed watching his sweet jumper. I was happy to see he passed 1,000 points for his career as I have enjoyed watching him play since the first time I watched him play when he was a freshman. Congratulations Isaiah!!!!!
