Apollo 18 John Hardin 13

Featured Replies

The Eagles were able to pull out the victory at the end to stay perfect on the season at 5-0. The Bulldogs suffer a tough loss to drop to 1-3 on the season.

John Hardin scored first as Ryan Wolf was able to beat Devlin Matlock down the sideline as he connected with Tim Marcum for a long pass in the endzone. That was the only score in the 1st as John Hardin lead 7-0.

Apollo finally got on the board midway through the 2nd. Michael Pope found Nate Jackson for a 74 yd gain but he was tackled on the 1 setting up Mark Lusk for the TD. The PAT was not good.

Mark Lusk found the endzone again before the half on another short run.

The 1st half was very sloppy as each team probably had at least 3 turnovers.

Both teams failed to score the majority of the 2nd half. Late in the 4th John Hardin put together a good drive marching down the field. They had it 1st and 10 from the Eagle 13, however Apollo's D made a nice stand, forcing a 4th down in which the Bulldogs attempt to pass for the TD, however, it was intercepted by Devin Matlock for a touchback.

Apollo was unable to advance the ball and had to punt back to John Hardin. The Bulldogs took over with about 2:45 left in the game from midfield. The Eagle defense held them pretty well, however, they then ran a halfback pass which found Ryan Wolf open again in the endzone. John Hardin unsuccessfully attempted to pass for the 2pt conversion, making it 13-12 Bulldogs with only 1:00 left in the game.

The Eagles returned the kick to only their own 33. Michael Pope found Ben Duval to advance the ball to the Apollo 40. Apollo ended up with 3rd and 3 with about 30 seconds left in the game. The Eagles then ran their own trick play as Michael Pope tossed the ball to Richie Stanley and the halfback threw it to Nate Jackson for a 60 yd Touchdown. Apollo's 2pt conversion attempt was no good.

John Hardin got the ball with less the 30 seconds after the kickoff and wasn't able to get much before time expired.

Apollo is not very good....but John Hardin is worse!:scared:

John Hardin has got to be one of the best 1-3 teams in the state. Apollo D was strong and the offensive line did a good job tonight especially the 2nd half.

Channel 25 has the highlights on their website if someone wants to post a link. The final minutes are worth watching.

Did everyone play for John Hardin. I would have thought that J. Hardin would have won this game. Maybe if someone did not play it might explain something.

The starting 2 technique did not play. However, it wouldn't have mattered. Its a lack of heart....and confidence now.:scared:

Why did he not play?

High ankle sprain.

Easy Pro- I would like to agree with you, but John could be easily 4-0 or 3-1 with the lone lost to Owensboro. Beginning this week with the game against South Oldham, will set the table for district play. Knowing that you have picked North to win the district (no team in the district is going to walk away with it). This is more than likely the weakest district in 4a football if not it is not far from it. John is close to putting the pieces together this year, special teams being the number one concern, have to handle punts and get more out of the kicking game. Bottom line come Oct 27 John will be the district champs. GO DAWGS!!!!!:ylsuper:

COULD be 4-0 being the key phrase here. I agree that JH has the talent to be undefeated, but they're 1-3 for a reason. As much as I'd like to see JH win the district....they won't.
