Rhinegeist Getting Political

At Rhinegeist, we value our people and our community, in their beautiful diversity of nationalities, politics, religion, and opinions. We value the basic liberties at their core. We value candor and respect. In an effort to protect those values, Rhinegeist will donate 10% of all TRUTH sales this week to the ACLU.

They can donate their money to whomever or whatever they want.

Why would/should anyone possibly care what they do with it?

I'll make an honest effort to use my dollar to support businesses that are giving back or giving to groups I care about.

I'll also do the opposite.

Yeah companies please 50% and then displease 50% of their consumers when they get political. From an owners view I don't see how they think it makes sense.

For some it has as much to do with principle as anything else.

It most certainly doesn't always make a ton of business sense.

From a general perspective, I'd probably agree, however I guarantee this doesn't hurt them one bit. Most of the clientele of craft breweries are going to be okay with this stance.

Haven't you said you aren't a fan of their products?

So are you going to make an effort to spend your money on products you don't enjoy, solely because of this?

I'm simply curious since I know you aren't a big fan of theirs.

I think they are over-hyped. Outside of an experimental or two nothing has blown me away. But I don't think they are awful. Being as they're "local" I can see how that over-hype happens.

If I go by the beer store again this week I'll probably pick up some Truth...solely based on this.

Btw, I looked up Truth. It's one I actually rated as slightly above what it's Untapp'd rating is.

Feedback on their Instagram post has been about 10:1 positive. They could be culling comments but my guess is this isn't going out on much of a limb in the craft beer world.

Very true I was going to say that but didn't want to upset anyone.

Looks to be about 20:1 at this point. With another 1K in "hearts".

In what should be no surprise they are getting a little more backlash on Facebook.
