Judge Blocks Humana-Aetna Merger

I call it a good start. Aetna has been trying to swallow up both Humana and Cigna. Bad all around, IMO.

Some experts think there won't be an appeal and that the merger is effectively dead.

If the merger fails, Humana is entitled to $1 billion from Aetna per the sale agreement. I doubt all that gets paid but wowsa.

Just some really dirty play going on here. Sticking it to the consumer anyway possible. Aetna pulled out of the exchange claiming they weren't profitable which was a lie.

 

 

 

You have to believe they block the Anthem-Cigna merger as well.

Love it. This is exactly the kind of garbage that needs addressed on a political level to gain some oversight/constraint. Let it blow up out of proportion. Maybe it will finally get the attention it deserves.

News out this morning that they're not appealing and the merger is officially off.

They can be upset all they want, but this is good for consumers. Time to rehire some of those collaterals, Humana.

As far as Rx's go Humana is the devil for reimbursement, so bad I opted out of taking their most popular Medicare part D plan this year . They underpay on somewhere between 10-20% of all rx claims . Was putting small ky ind pharmacies in danger .

That plan costs about 40% less than all the competitors for a reason. :thumb:
