John Hardin 80 Elizabethtown 43

Good win for the Dogs in district play. Balanced scoring with some pretty good defense.

Mickey Pearson-25 points 13 rebs 4 blocks

Devonta Guillory-10 points 4 rebs 4 assists

Taj Taylor-15 points 6 rebs

Anthony Witherspoon 11 points 14 rebs

Good to see Witherspoon's name. 5th Region is going to be a battle in about 6 weeks.

That's a smackdown! Is John Hardin that good or E-Town that bad?

Yeah Purple; it is good to see him coming along...so much potential in the kid. I think a lot of our football players are starting to hit their stride. And agreed the 5th is about as open as it's been in awhile.

Somewhere in the middle....I will say that JH has the ability to play like this on any given night

That is a nice win for John. It seems that Pearson has finally hit his stride too. Which is inside near the basket rather than shooting the 3. John is one of if not the hottest teams in the 5th.

Didn't they have some team turmoil with the Knox game and the coach sat down the starters for over half of the game?

Lol......Pearson still shoots the three and he is gonna have to continue to show he can shoot the three if he wants to play college basketball. He has a very good skill set that allows him to do a lot of things which includes shooting the 3. You can't take all these 6'5 and 6'6 kids who have skills and attempt to make them post players if they desire to play high level basketball in college.

The team is doing better though, Witherspoon has accepted his role on the team which gives them some physical presence. Speaking on the Fort Knox issue....JH won the game by 20+...Coach McCurry was unhappy with their energy and rightfully so he sat their butts for almost a quarter....same issue against Breck County last week.

I agree that to play at the next level at his height he needs to be able to shoot the 3. It just seems at times when it wasn't falling, he wouldn't take his game closer to the basket. And what does the team need him to do? With his skills, he would be tough to guard if he were down low and then pop out to the 3. To many times high school players are thinking bout the college scholarship rather than doing what is best for his team. I am sure this young man plays enough AAU bball games to show his overall skills for these wonderful recruiters. I am excited to see him for another year and how he will dominate the competition.
