Took me about 2 minutes of game time to see why Danville has a losing record.

 

The Admirals have an entire roster of really athletic kids who excel at driving, slashing and scoring in the paint and around the rim. They have no shooters...and by shooters, I mean kids who consistently knock it down from long range. For most of the game...they shoot a bunch of 3-pointers. If they played to their strengths, they would be a tough out come tournament time. They have talent.

 

They also really struggled at the free throw line tonight. Not sure if that's the norm or just tonight.

Depending on how the Ads matchup with Garrard goes on Friday, this will probably be the 2-3 seed matchup in the district again. As Wireman says, the Ads need to play to their strengths and quit thinking they are the Golden State Warriors.

Every time they made a run tonight, it was getting to the rim and being athletic on rebounds and putbacks. The talent is there to be solid. Anyone have shooting stats on tonight's game?

Boyle County was 18/41 from the field. 3/8 from the three point line. 22/28 from the free throw line.

Danville had 34 rebounds(17 offensive), 6 assists, 4 blocks, 8 steals and 20 turnovers. Danville scored 14 points off of 17 Boyle County turnovers and Danville had 17 second chance points.

Boyle County had 28 rebounds(10 offensive), 10 assists, 10 steals and 17 turnovers. Boyle County scored 26 points off of 20 Danville turnovers and had 9 second chance points.

Zach Thornton had 16 points, 13 rebounds, 2 blocks and 3 steals.

 

Jared Southerland had 15 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals.

For Boyle County:

 

Reese Smith had 21 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists.

 

Bryce Slone had 15 points and 4 rebounds.

 

Baby J had 11 points and 3 steals.

 

Grant Hotchkiss had 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.

So Danville was 3-21 (14.3%) from 3PT and 15-26 (57.7%) from inside the arc.

 

Imagine if they shot 50 times inside the 3-point line.

Watching this Boyle County team grow this season has been enjoyable. I feel like they are exceeding the expectations of where I thought they would be at this point. Coach Adams and his staff is doing another fantastic job with his team this season. Keep working hard in practice fellas and you will continue to grow and exceed expectations. Go Rebels!!!
