Alexandria Cross Town Shoot Out.......More Than Just A Game.

Featured Replies

Besides being one of the greatest atmospheres in Kentucky for basketball.

There is at lot more than meets the eye going on.

Every year the Alexandria Cross Town Shoot Out, has a student driven food drive.

This year over 8,100 lbs of food was collected by the two schools, which exceeded last years mark of around 8000lbs of food. Spectators attending the game are also encouraged to bring food to the game.

In addition to the food drive, a $1000.00 scholarship is given to a Campbell County student, and a $1000.00 scholarship is given to a Brossart student. Scholarships are based on student involvement in the Community.

It's a GREAT EVENT, and THANKS to the Alexandria Community,

and the Bishop Brossart, and Campbell County Students for all their efforts.

So? Who won the scholarships?

They announced them at the game, I however do not recall their names.

That is AWESOME!!!

If I'm not mistaken, BBHS graduate Justin Rolf started the food drive a few years ago. He is a great kid.

Actually, I think his older sister, Mallory, was the one who started this worthy cause. :thumb:

@BirdBrain had a brain fart, and inadvertently posted this in the game thread :)

Crosstown Scholarship Winners:

BBHS - Taylor Young

CCHS - Emily Robertson

On a side note, I heard the six-year total in the FOODout is just shy of 30,000 pounds of food!

15 tons....that's awesome to see the two schools come together and support a great cause!!

Sophomore Alana Nienaber is the present Brossart rep carrying the FOODout torch.

She started collecting items back at our Green-White Night on November 25th and solicited donations again at our 10th Region "A" Play-in games on Friday night.

Nah, you give me way too much credit....I was just too lazy to figure out where the thread was that asked about the scholly winners and posted it up there, knowing that someone else would drag it back where it belonged....but you're welcome for me tracking them down...

I'm a delegator, not a details guy....
