Our house as settled a bit (I guess) and suddenly our door leading to the carport is sticking very bad. I've taken a hammer and "Tapped" the inside of the door frame where it appears to be sticking but it's no better.

Anyone with a quick easy fix for this problem?

Take your door off and shave part of the bottom off.

Seems to be sticking near the top, so sand off some of that?

Would sanding the frame work as well?

Yeah if you can. Its a short term solution, and if its a large amount your going to need a new door/jam anyways. We used to have to do that all the time in Apartment buildings where the doors would stick after a few years.

There is a rock quarry about 1/2 mile from here that blast every afternoon, sometimes I can feel it shake my house. Pretty sure issue is related to them.

Probably going to replace this door in the spring anyways, so I might as well sand away now.

If its the top another option is to see if you can jack up the jam of the door. You may not be able too (not seeing your door its hard to say.) If it really is your house settling that may not be an option.

Didnt think about you guys being that close to the quary but yeah thats a good bet your cause of this.

MOVE, problem solved. :lol2:

You can use a rubber mallat to give a stronger wack without damaging the trim to compress the parts of the frame where the sticking is. Rework the trimwork if needed or put some extra screws in if they can be caulked over without noticing.

These varations in temps and humidity seem to cause the issues on tight doors this time of year.

The added screws in the frame may be the right fix for this particular problem, thanks.

Or if you have a Dremel tool, this would give you a great reason to get the planer attachment...

Did they quit making them? Looked at 3 different sites and all say they no longer carry this.
