January 1, 20179 yr Looks like parts of Kentucky could be in a Marginal Risk Area for strong to severe thunderstorms on Monday. The area of Kentucky looks be mainly west of I-65. I'll update later today.

Lows could be in the low to mid teens with the highs reaching the low to mid 20s. WKY could possible see a warmup on Sunday with the highs reaching the low 30s. As of now little or no chance of precipitation.

January 1, 20179 yr Author Quick update on the possible storms for tomorrow. For now the only thing is that it looks like the best chance for storms look to be in WKY during the 5-11 pm ET time period. I'll update again in the morning.
January 1, 20179 yr Got most of the outdoor lights inside. I usually keep it all up until Jan 6th---but there is nothing fun about unraveling frozen light strings in freezing temps. :no:

For now, the main threat looks to be possibly damaging winds and hail. Timing looks to be between 5-8 pm ET. The area with the best chance for these storms looks to be mainly west of I-65
January 2, 20179 yr Author @Jumper_Dad Just looked at this morning model runs. Looks like your best chance to go would be Friday evening or early Saturday morning. The latest GFS is now showing snow moving in by Saturday morning. Of course this could change so I'll be watching it. Last evening it wasn't showing snow at all.
January 2, 20179 yr Author The chance for severe storms this evening has diminished. There is still the possibility of thunderstorms later this evening into the over night hours. The rain/thunderstorms should start moving into WKY around 4 pm ET and slowly move eastward. They should stay west of I-65 until around 10 pm. The rain should be around the I-75 corridor around 2 am ET. The heaviest rain fall totals will be west of I-65 with 1-2" accumulations possible by 7 am ET. Totals will be lighter east of I-65.
