December 28, 20169 yr I'm talking about bans. Heavy restriction on not only purchase but on ownership and manufacture. Laws that actually control guns. Like I said, it isn't happening in this country so the subject just doesn't interest me anymore. I'm moving on to other solutions, ineffective or slow as they may be. We currently have laws banning the ownership by the worst of the worst. When they are caught with possession those cases get pled down to lesser offenses or minimum sentences. There are 10s of thousands of unprosecuted cases where those that are not allowed to own a gun try to make a legal purchase...each time they lie on a 4473 it is a Federal Crime that should lead to prosecution, but those cases have only been prosecuted a handful of times over the last decade. My point is short of banning total gun ownership, which may be your utopia (I don't know), we should focus on the laws we have and prosecute gun crimes stronger.

This country has long decided it is uninterested in doing gun control on a level that will actually get the results we're looking for because it would be EXTREMELY invasive. And that's fine, I guess.

No worries! Mixed emotions on gun control, but strict laws seem to do little to curb violence. JD above brings up a good point on prosecution of the laws on the books. Similar to immigration, we probably don't need more laws, just need to enforce the ones already on the books?
