July 16, 20179 yr I was mildly disappointed that we didn't get to see Simpson with the full-on brass band, but the way he shredded on the guitar totally made up for it. Watched a few songs of rapper Vince Staples, but couldn't get real close. I get claustrophobic in that tight crowd at the stage under I-64. Really enjoyed the handful of songs I saw of punk-pop band Beach Slang, who I was unfamiliar with. They did a nice cover of The Pixies' "Where Is My Mind." Wish I could have seen JD McPherson and Nathaniel Raetliff and The Night Sweats, but I had to work at the bar to make the cash I'd be spending tonight. Only so many hours in the day. Watched a couple songs of LCD Soundsystem and it was good, but not good enough to keep me late. I've always been pretty indifferent toward them. Them mentioning that the last time they played L'ville was with Arcade Fire didn't help. Arcade Fire stinks. Hitting up PJ Harvey, Spoon and Weezer tomorrow. I saw Weezer on their first tour for the Blue Album. Great stuff. Have seen Spoon twice but they never disappoint. With 90s alt-rock goddess PJ Harvey, I'm crossing off a bucket list show. I'll be real close with the camera and can't wait. Need to find my copy of "Rid Of Me" to brush up. Real excited about this one. While there was some gnashing of teeth over the quality of the lineup (myself included) this year, what I've seen has all been pretty good. My buddy complained about the two times he saw RTJ that they weren't any count, but they were fantastic Friday. Blast from the past.
July 16, 20179 yr Was going to go today until I discovered the ticket price for just one person to attend. Had a great anniversary dinner with Mrs. C1 instead and re-stocked our wine and liquor supply! Enjoy today...weather is going to be fantastic! Going to Florida this week instead.
July 17, 20179 yr I didn't attend, but some of the acts I would have been interested in seeing most would have been. Mondo Cozmo Spoon STRFKR Foxygen Charles Bradley Big Thief Wondering if any of you who went caught any of them, and what you thought?

Mondo Cozmo Spoon STRFKR Foxygen Charles Bradley Big Thief Wondering if any of you who went caught any of them, and what you thought? I'm a big fan of Spoon and their set was very good as usual. Didn't see any of the others, but I was most interested in Mondo Cozmo and Foxygen. Just couldn't get there early enough. PJ Harvey played a mix of classics and new stuff Sunday, and it was an excellent show. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about seeing Weezer. I loved their first two records and saw them on the Blue Album tour all those years ago, but have been lukewarm at best on anything they've done since. But I ended up staying for the whole set and loving it.
