Beechwood hosts Eminence in round 1 of the 1A playoffs. Eminence RB Elijah Montero is among the leaders in 1A rushing. Can he do some damage against the Tigers and give Eminence a chance in this game?

I'd say it this year too if Bracken Co was playing Beechwood. That is not a knock at an 8-2 Bracken Co but there isn't that much difference if Beechwood was playing them or Eminence this week. Beechwood is just that much better than those teams.

At least their not having to play Paintsville! Beechwood in this one conviencingly!

^^ I echo these sentiments. Beechwood is a whole different animal than Eminence, Bracken, Nicholas, Paris or Brossart.

 

They are simply that much farther advanced than the rest of us.

No, my point is this. Two years ago Bracken County got blasted in round 1 by Beechwood. This year those players are 8-2 and share a district title. I don't think getting beat by Beechwood caused any harm. Maybe they even learned something that helped them get to 8-2 this year.

It's hard to say that it's a complete waste of time! Bracken drew Beechwood first round 2 years ago. Then drew Paintsville first round last year. As VOR stated those same young players then put together an 8-2 season this year! I know for a fact last year when Paintsville sat starters in the 2nd QT Bracken got to get some valuable playoff experience! Although I wasn't at the Bracken/Beechwood game I can only assume they did the same then! Even though the oposing team was heavily favored At the time, Bracken players got to see what could be accomplished if they worked hard enough! That's the benefit that comes out of some of these lopsided first round games!

I think the point is even at 8-2 this year if Bracken Co were playing Beechwood this week it would be another game that is uninteresting and a blowout. So yes it may have helped Bracken Co become an 8-2 team down the road and maybe best of the also-rans ....but it still a bad situation when a dominant #1 meets a bad #4 seed because the #1 seed gains nothing from it.
