Now the 1st season is done and the most important, 2nd and real season begins......Rams need to get ready for the playoffs and each week now becomes the most important game of the season or you don't play the next game.....GO RAMS !

Wow. That is nuts if they were well within FG range for the win and elected to go for the TD! Similar to kicking off on the other teams 30 after you score and NOT attempt an onside kick and decide to kick it through the uprights!

 

You have to be able to take off the orange tinted glasses, something that most of the Rams fans on this site are incapable of. It's my opinion that the last two losses are solely on the shoulders of Mike Salmons.

Congrats to the Devils. Great game. I hate to lose but that was a great one to be involved.

The game was a dandy from start to finish, but the 4th quarter, in particular, was high school football at its best. Big plays, clutch drives, each team responding when they're down...

 

I was glad to see both teams leave it all on the field and not ease up to preserve themselves for the playoffs.

 

When Raceland was driving in the final minute, I had a knot in my stomach the size of my fist. I thought for sure that the Rams were going to pull out the win. I don't like to criticize high school coaches, but I was shocked that Raceland didn't have Davidson keep it himself and center the ball in the middle of the field to set up a field goal.

 

Regardless, two very good teams that still have much to look forward to in the coming weeks.

A few observations...

 

Russell's run defense did a great job of bottling up Bailey Walker. The Rams just never really got him established.

 

Nick Conley looked fresh and well rested after a week off. He showed some speed on the long TD run and ran hard all night, powering his way through tacklers on a few other runs.

 

Nathaniel Davidson throws a really nice ball. Strong, accurate arm and makes good decisions.

 

John Cherry is a beast. Good size, good hands, good speed, good route runner, and has a knack for finding space and getting open.

 

And, last but not least... Maxx Blackburn played the game of his career last night. He doesn't get a lot of touches because he shares the backfield with #4, but he's an excellent, versatile football player in his own right.

Since you didn't name who, I have to guess that I am one of the homers / orange tinted glasses fans you are talking about. #1 ... I am a homer and frankly am proud of it. #2. ... I don't call it "orange tinted glasses". most of us call it "Ram Pride" and don't accuse others of something they have no earthly idea of what or why we / I post what we do. Since you decided to then I will tell you ... Yes, at times I disagree with coaches calls and why or why not they called them. Difference is that I am not the coach, I don't know or see these kids in practice everyday so I guess that the man that does has his reasons why. #3. ....I personally see no benefit, especially to the players of having someone criticize their coach and his decisions on a thread bc to me these kids do read these things and I don't want to take a chance on throwing doubt in a player/players minds about their coaches. They (players) players imo anyway have to have confidence in what their coach tells them and / or the plays he calls. Finally, if you really have a problem with what or why that coach Salmons calls or not calls what you think he should then Why don't you ask him in private. If ask in the right manner he may tell you. Airing it out in public doesn't imo do anyone any good. Should it make you feel better then O.K., that's your right to do so :thumb:

So Yes, I post positive on Raceland threads most of the time, I always do or try to and is jmo that's not a bad thing. Only exceptions would be if I thought that the Rams didn't play like they could bc of lack of effort or focus. I don't get down on them for losing a game, only if I thought they didn't give 100 % effort in playing the game.

Personally, i didnt mind the call to go to Cherry in the endzone to win the game. Just didnt like the set up and running two wrs to the one side that he is on and allowing for double coverage to free up a defender, who got the int. if it were me, i'd have gone trips to one side and tried to get Cherry 1 on 1. You win as a team and lose as a team, but, the kids dont call the plays. The PLAYERS did not leave anything but guts on the field. A great ball game, great atmosphere, but I hope with everything I have the Rams can figure out a way to win the big games.

I have no way knowing and couldn't care any less but you seem to be a former player or maybe parent with an ax to grind with the coach or staff. .... as I said, I honestly don't know you, and am not trying to.
