Like I said before, Sacred Heart is loaded and in for a very strong season. Between Berger, Fichter, Sivils, Harris and Samsel, not to mention those 3 Freshmen and some other talented role players, they have 7-9 players who should play in college at either a lower Division 1, or at least Division 2 level if they so choose.

 

Also, as I mentioned in the top 10 7th Region players rankings, it is hard to just list 10 and some on there might be replaced by some of these not listed on there. Fichter and Sivils are both very under-rated in my opinion.

 

They should challenge Male, Eastern and Manual in the 7th for sure.

Yes SHA will be in the mix for the 7th region title, but that's a long way off. So much changes between now and the end of the season.

 

For SHA it will be interesting to see if they can blend the new players with the veterans without affecting team chemistry. One of the Valkyries areas that needed help was in the post. They should get it with the addition of the Freshman Clemons at the 5 position. They also have a couple of juniors that should be able to provide some help in the paint.

Does anyone know where these girls play AAU?

All play for Premier except Sivils who plays for Legacy.

Personally, I think the key to Sacred Heart is the point guard Ashlee Harris. She has an excellent IQ for the game. SHA had a huge meltdown in the region last year vs Male when Berger tired to do it all in the 4th quarter. Berger can be much more effective if she learns to play coming off screens to keep defenses honest and then once she gets the ball she can use her talents to score or set up her teammates. If Berger can mature into that role SHA can be unstoppable because of all the offensive weapons they have. I also hear that they have some young talent to go with all those juniors and the soph Harris.

Yes they will have some depth this year in the backcourt with the two freshman guards, but more importantly a badly needed skilled post player in Clemons.

 

The meltdown against Male I won't put on Berger. Many other things attributed to that loss. They were a young team with mostly very talented sophomores and an awesome freshman playing most of the minutes. This year they should be experienced mature players that can handle those types of games. I'm looking for big things out of this team for this year.
