October 18, 20169 yr Everyone is killing the SEC this year as being down and rightfully so but why is the Big 10 getting a pass? We're supposed to believe Michigan and OSU are top 4 teams yet the only decent win between the 2 is Wisconsin. Their best win is LSU and is that really that good of a win?

At Oklahoma isn't a quality win? You set the bar fairly high then. Listen, I hate Ohio State with the intensity of 1,000 suns, and I don't like Michigan much more, but if you watch them play, they ace the eye-ball test. Alabama is fantastic, that goes without saying. The rest of the SEC is suspect this year...has nothing to do with the Big 10. They just are. Match-ups unseen, and I can't believe I'm going to type this because I'm an SEC fan and not a fan of the Big 10 (minus one team), I will take the big 10 vs the SEC in every bowl game they are matched up in this year. The Big 10's top half is much better than the SEC's top half this year, not a big deal, but in this particular season, it just is. All of that said, I'd take Alabama and give you the field for the Crystal Football, so there is that.

I don't disagree the SEC is down but I disagree that the top of the Big 10 is better this year. Wisconsin is #3 and they barely beat a bad LSU team in what was essentially a home game. I would put Bama & A&M up against OSU and Michigan and at worse split. I think Tenn is better than Wisconsin.
October 18, 20169 yr Author I think what he's doing with this list, which he updates weekly with who has been eliminated that week, is listing those Power conference schools that still control their own destiny in terms of making the conference title games. That's why you see schools like Auburn, Pitt, UNC, etc. still technically alive. His thinking is if they can win their conference championship they have a shot at the playoff. He did break them down to two tiers....The first 10 schools I listed are his "still in contention" teams. The rest are "on the fence". That makes sense. I can see the logic certainly. But most of those teams, it would take something catastrophic in front of them for them to get in. But I understand the premise.
