Newport Central Catholic 28 Lloyd 18

Featured Replies

NCC really missed their MLB who was out as Lloyd got a lot of yards up the middle. Not sure what the thought was of letting Lloyd's star receiver uncovered other than it worked for over 3 quarters as they kept him in front of defense which I guess was the strategy.

Lloyd place kicking and punting has to improve.

Play calling was a bit odd. Probably not a good idea to do a fake punt on 4th and 8 when the opposition has left their entire defense on the field and has no one deep virtually allowing you to down the ball inside the 20 with no effort. But they ran it anyway and lost 3 yards on the play.

I hope to NEVER see that again. :lol2:

Really though....the Lloyd kicker (his name escapes me) could not have hit them any better, it was pretty impressive. That being said, the Breds should have done a better job trying to recover them, since they knew they were coming.

3 different kids kicked... Not the same person on any of the 3

This game went exactly like I feared. D on the field to long, O not able to finish drives with points. Lacking the ability to make extra points mathematically puts you behind the perverbail 8 ball. Lloyd has no hurry up cause the QB has to go to the sideline after every play. (Not just a Lloyd thing) Teams have to get with the times and have a wrist band system and or hand signals to call plays. Sorry huge pet peeve of mine, but any way huge losses tonight having Hatton out for the second half and Durham leaving the game for what looked like a knee injury. 2 key players for Lloyd and spots that are not easily filled.

Hatton actually went out on the second play of the game tried to come back on the second defensive series but was limping pretty bad so coaches decided to keep him out

Oh ok. I saw him get hurt early and limp off, then seen him go back in shortly after. Didn't realize he wasn't back in there. I may need glasses.

I agree but watch it again

I honestly have no idea how Lloyd recovered the 3rd one. It was a dribble up the middle and it looked like it went straight to a NCC player. But insane how perfect the first 2 were. I'm still in disbelief they recovered all 3.

On 3rd kick, NCC player catches ball sitting on the field and gets speared by Lloyd player leading with helmet. How this is not a penalty Is beyond belief.

That's a bit questionable

I don't mean it was flagrant. But a player with possession on the ground should not be subject to someone hitting them. Even on an onside kick. That's a late hit any other time of the game.

How can it be a late hit when he doesn't have possession of the ball

The original statement said the player had possession and was on the ground. In that case the ball is dead.

the original statement was false

so did Lloyd their mlb was hurt on the second play of the game

If Durham and Hatton aren't both back next week, it will be tough for Juggs to stop Holy Cross rushing attack.

Hatton looked like he should be ready next Saturday, I hope report on Durham is good.
