Not so good - 9 penalties 60 yds

Funny moment of the game - 326 lb OL Drew McIntosh makes an extra point that looked like a Phil Mickelson 64 degree wedge. It had massive hang time and maybe cleared the bar by a half a foot.

Where does Newport go from here?

Keep being positive about the program and encourage the players that are in the junior program. There were a good number that came on the field at halftime.

Only place is up. Have to get more kids out first though.

It's disappointing. Newport has always had a proud tradition of football and to see it in its current state is sad. For their sake and for the health of the game (competition) , I hope things turn for the better.

We've been put in a rough spot in terms of students due to multiple issues out of our control. We typically play a Froshmore lineup with more freshman than sophomore. Hopefully more kids will come out next year but regardless, we'll show up Monday ready to practice and prepare for New Cath.

At one point, there was talk of consolidation of Silver Grove, Dayton, Bellevue, and Newport. Anyone ever see that happening? They would be a fairly large school and I would think super competitive, in my opinion. Lots of tradition and history in those schools so I couldn't imagine it would happen

Will never ever happen.

That's been "rumored" for 20 or so years now, although that's first I've heard of silver grove. Either way, will never happen.

I feel your pain.
