Just curious. Why do middle school teams schedule a team that's so far away when there are plenty of local schools to play?

Union doesn't have a ton of options, because they aren't members of the NKMSAA. I know they've applied in the past, but never got in, I think mainly because they couldn't (or wouldn't) guarantee that only kids that attend Gray would make up the team. It would be great if the Boone county schools would get on board and offer football as a sport in their middle schools.

That's a shame, has to be pretty neat for kids that age to travel for a game.

Union told Boyle that their 8th grade game would not be that competitive. Boyle is extremely better than Union in 8th grade. Union told Boyle if they didnt want to travel to play the game then Union was ok with that. Boyle decided not to play the game.

They played in our Rebel Bowl early in the season...and we were to return the favor is what I figured.

That's a shame, has to be pretty neat for kids that age to travel for a game.

 

Indeed...not to mention it removes a game from our schedule this year that has zero chance of getting replaced.

If that's not what happened why don't you tell us how it went down! I'm sure the Union Raiders 7th grade team would be more than happy to play. Our 8th grade team is down. Most of the better 8th grade players that will attend Ryle play in the Boone County Football League. Our 7th grade team is filled with good players who like to bring it!

We don't have a 7th grade team and an 8th grade team. We do it by A Team and B Team and always have.

 

You would definitely win the 7th grade game because we have several starters on the A Team that are in the 7th grade and therefore won't play "down". If they did, they'd be up to the challenge.
