Check out Vaught's Views in the Advocate Messenger today: http://www.amnews.com. This is a good problem for Mercer County Titans to have.... where to put all the fans? There were at least 3,000 to 4,000 fans at the game this past weekend at Alvis Johnson Field vs. South Laurel. There will probably be more than double that amount when the Titans host the Rebels on September 15th.

I hope the "powers that be" that are in charge, make the right decision and host the game at the Alvis Johnson Field. More bleacher seating on the home side, more area for people to place chairs/blankets, larger concession area, and more parking area.

Let the team get ready at the sports complex (like they did this past weekend) and then bus them over to the game!

We need the space!!!!!! Go Titans!!!!!!!

I agree totally. I hope we play every home game there this season. Better seating and concession and a much better field.

With the seating, there is more of an area to spread out with lawnchairs and what not, which makes for a great atmosphere like it did the other nite. Although, over at Mercer's field, they have made improvements for those who will want to do the same over there, a large opening on(one like that of Harrodsburgs old practice field) the end of the fieldhouse will be available for tailgaiting, so there will be some more room.

On the subject of the field, though, Mercer's field is in the best shape it's been in for years. Truthfully speaking, there is no question which is the better playing surface, the Bermuda at Mercer, if you get a chance, go walk on both and you'll see, rather easily. If one could match the seating at Alvis Johnson Field and the playing surface at Mercer, then that would be the perfect setting. They could play in a parking lot, and Id come watch, as Im sure 7,999 others would too!!:thumb:

Do you know what the improvements to the Alvis Johnson Field were that were made this summer? Something about adding a rubber material in the soil?

The rumor is even after the new school is constructed they are going to continue to play football at their current site. The field is supposed to rebuilt into a stadium that will be second to none with turf like at Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium. My only wish is they would go ahead a do this once this season is over, and if not finished play next year at Alvis Johnson Field. As far as the Boyle game, I hope that it is at AJF, and not at the current site do to the seating, parking, and concessions.

I dont know of any. What I do know is that Marty Jaggers should get an award for "Amateur Field Turf Management", because since the spring, I dont think a day (yes, Im talking weekends) has gone by where he hasnt mowed/and or fertilized/worked on it somehow (Mercer's gamefield), and it shows. Except for a little strip of Crab Grass in the middle, that, for whatever reason, keeps comming back. It really does look great, though. Seven soccer games, a freshman game and band practices have been taken place on it already, but it still looks great considering all that has been played on it to date.

I do know that Harrodsburg High School received some kind of grant last year that allowed them to receive improvements to the football field. I am just not sure what was done - but in June, there some kind of rubber material added to the soil.

I'd love to know what the gate was for this weekend. I agree with playing at AJ field. it was awsome to see all the tailgaters line up as the team walked the hill to the field. What a great atmosphere!!!!!! I think I will go through withdrawal this weekend :)
