The Death of the RB

Featured Replies

If you're a RB, better be able to help in pass protection. All starts with OL that don't have enough sand in them to run block. Pass protection is so much easier.

Or catch the ball well like a Matt Forte.

I'm a dinosaur but I have bemoaned all the rules changes that have turned the NFL into a pitch and catch league and QBs into girls. It's well on its way to becoming a flag football league. I like smash-mouth football where everything originates from the ability to run. You have a full back who can block and a RB that gets the ball 20+ times a game. In Cleveland, it sure was fun in recent years watching Payton Hillis go off the block of Lawrence Vickers and make a LB, CB, and Safety sorry they laced up the uniform that morning.

I guess we all prefer the things we grew up with, classic cars, music, and the way they played the game back then, but I do miss the game as it was played in the 60's, 70's and early 80's.

I'm right there with you brother.

Between the NFL becoming increasingly becoming a passing league with each down how near are we to the death of the RB?

Doug Martin, Adrian Peterson, Danny Woodhead and Thomas Rawls all left their respective games with injuries yesterday. Receivers like Stefon Diggs and Willie Snead are bursting onto the scene out of nowhere. You look at the stats and RBs are becoming less and less valuable.

Anyone else feeling this change affecting the league in positive and negative ways?

On the other hand they could have a really good wheelchair basketball team while they recover.
