Didnt this problem hit Bellevue hard? either last year or the year before?

I think it was last year....if I am not mistaken, I think Eckstein missed a game because of a staph infection.

I can't believe you mentioned steroids. To throw out steroid accusations without any proof or understanding of them is irresponsible. Although research has shown that steroids "CAN" have some deleterious effects on the immune system, it is in people who use high doses of steroids over many years. You should look for realistic and probable causes for such problems before ever mentioning steroids. There has been an increase in staph infections everywhere and in all age groups. Many of them are antibiotic-resistant as well. I believe it is a result of new strains of Staph that can cause infections even in those with normal immune function. Add the heat and dehydration on top of that and you have a perfect situation for new strains of Staph to thrive.

I didn't accuse anybody of ANYthing...

The subject of the thread inquired "why so many staph infections ?". I was merely mentioning a possible contributing factor. It's not something that needs "proof". For sure resistant strains of staph (due to overuse of antibiotics) are also a factor.

Also, I'd appreciate if you'd refrain from assuming I have no "understanding" of them and are "irresponsible" for mentioning them because you couldn't be more WRONG.

Not talking about a thing does NOT make it a non-factor...

...

I hope people will avoid using anti-bacterial products and will listen to their doctor when he or she tells them that they have a virus --which antibiotics have no effect on.

Amen, BF !!!

:ylsuper: :ylsuper:

I have heard that Johnson Central has had some cases. Could it be that the soil for the practice field was gotten from the creek? Lord knows what is in that creek!!!

What a question!!!!The dirt for the practice field came from the mountain top behind Wal Mart. I cant believe that anyone who lives in Paintsville could come up with a statemen like that, what with the steady stream of trucks coming from that area loaded with dirt, that was highly visable for more than a year going back and forth after loads.

And by the way, I heard that Paintsville has had some of those same cases. Did that come from the creek dirt also?....NO!!!

It's a problem that has hit in many parts of the country.

ok then what about flood water getting on the practice field?

ok then what about flood water getting on the practice field?

If that were the case the whole county would be dealing with the same issue. That same flood water gets on half the county when it floods. The little league field is always under water when it floods from this very same creek. How many cases you hear of coming from the little league field? I haven't heard of any.

What about the cases coming from Paintsville's football locker room? They been playing near the creek too? I dont think so.

LOL... don't get so testy, I'm just trying to figure it out. Paintsville did not have staph until the Apple Bowl last year.

Not testy at all, sorry to come across that way. I'm just trying to make commonsense a part of this discussion.

By the way the Apple Bowl was not played on the practice field. It was played on that big one with the track and the bleachers around it.......j/k ....I've never seen flood water on it.

LOL, The kids practice on the practice field, they might contact it there then take it to the game...and so forth. Maybe they should have the soil analyzed for staph just as a precautionary measure??

Hey, you got me. I just cant fight the logic any longer.:D

I think that someone should call the Saint Louis Rams office and let them know that they need not worry about trying to find out the origin of their problem any longer.( Must have happened when the Rams were in town for that scrimmage with JCHS). The mystery has been solved.

Now we all know that the staph problem that is sweeping the country can be pinpointed as originating from Johnson Central's practice field that had flood water from Paint Creek on it. The whole medical world will breathe a little easier tonight(at least I know I will).

Now all we need to do is borrow some of those giant planes from the U.S. Forestry Dept. and fly them suckers over Johnson Central's practice football field and spray it down with clorox.
