Guess that is my point, when you are in a competitive cycle try to schedule according...A win is a win. I do admire the job Coach Black has done at all stops. His team at Whitley may indeed start the season 0-3 but playing teams like Shelby, Bell and North Hardin will help the Colonels in the long run. I would just like to see Williamsburg play teams like Knox Central, Corbin, Middlesboro for example when they are capable of beating those teams. When they are in a down cycle then adjust the schedule some and play teams of a similar talent.

This coaching staff had nothing to do with the schedule? So When Black left, they hired an entirely new staff?

Listen, When you are Williamsburg you better get a win when you can. Jellico needs to stay on the schedule, becuase in a year or two or three, Williamsburg will be down again and numbers will be low and they may struggle or even lose to a Jellico. It is a fact of life in a small school, it runs in cycles.

Williamsburg seems to have a lot of talent in the 7th and 8th grade and the younger kids playing for the varsity seem promising so i think it might be longer than you think before williamsburg is down.

Head coach and A.D. set schedules. New head coach at Williamsburg.

With that being said.....I would think that Coach Herron will up the schedule once he has full control....KC game was a step in the right direction. With an extra game due to a change in district it will be interesting to see who is added next year for the non district schedule...

Actually I think Williamsburg will find it easier to play teams around their own size next season as out of district games. With Pineville and the Harlan area schools in the different region, I could Williamsburg and Lynn Camp both picking up a couple to play.

I thought that Williamsburg's offense came from that Woods guy! Not Black, I also think that the coaching staff at Williamsburg is one of the best in state! Doesn't Whitley play people like Lynn Camp! How many schools does Whitley play that is twice there size.

I am no Williamsburg fan at all but I respect their coaches. I again think that Williamsburg's schedule is just fine, their coaches are great, but they will not beat my skins!!!:fire:

Woods is one the best offensive minds in the state. I wish he was calling the plays for my Hounds....Black is a solid coach in all areas of the game and has learned alot from Darrell. Difference is Jim can get along with players, parents and administrators...he is a bit more polished..IF the Jackets wanna hang their hats on their schedule then that is fine. I just think in the up years it would be more benefical to play a little tougher non district schedule. As was mentioned earlier Coach Herron did not schedule these teams. It will be interesting to see what he does next season.....when he has full control of things. All the coaches at WHS are good guys, they work hard and love the " Little School that Could".....My point was no one is going to respect wins over Jellico, McCreary as compared with wins over Cawood, Hazard etc....I dare to say that the district games are the only ones that truly matter to football playing schools...Cumberland does not play a tough non district schedule either so they have little room to talk...maybe the reason for a lack of post season success in the last five years or so for the Skins.

I am sorry that my tam does not get to play I think Talyor County to see if they go to the playoffs. We actually got to play Williamsburg, Sommerset, Lynn Camp and Harlan all of which I would put up against Corbin's District!

I think that in the area that Williamsburg is the only school in the area that can talk about football since the turn of 2000. Corbin, I think plays in a weak district and Whitley Co. can win against a two or three A school sometimes but can hardly win, when they face a team with similar talent.

With all of that being said. I believe that Cumberland will surprise alot of people this year. Including the 'burg!

Based on what? Corbin has played in the state finals and Lynn Camp has played in the state semi-finals. Williamsburg has only made the playoffs two or three times since the turn of 2000, and only one time made it out of the first round.

I was not even going to respond to Mr. Fun's last post....thanks LC for revealing a few things that have happened since 2000 in the Tri- County football circles.

I did not know that either, thanks LC.

But LC you got to admit that our district is twice as hard as Corbin's ever thought about being!

With that Logic why not play the tradition rich..pansy Hounds and show the world what Cumberland and WBurg are made of.......lol....Jackets won the last one...wanna try another........then you can brag til then BillyBoy shut your mouth...

I wanna see Cumberland and Corbin lock up before the consolodation. These are two teams that I grew up rooting for and I can remember the slobberknockers they had in the late 80's/early 90's. I can remember the 30 something -3 whippin Cumberland put on my hounds up at Harold Shrout Memorial back in 94 and the close Corbin victory down at Campbell field in 95 like it was yesterday.

We (Class A, 7th Dist.) do have what would seem be a harder district on paper most years, but Corbin does fill up the non-district with some really tough opponents. Lynn Camp mixes it up a lot with 2A-3A and 4A schools. Williamsburg usually has one decent opponent, then a mix of Jellico/McCreary(Who dose'nt really look all that bad this year) and a Thomas Walker type team before district play.(And, for some reason, their scores always make it on the front page box scores of the Hearld Leader.???.)
