SWAT Team Kills Innocent Man

Featured Replies

Very unfortunate story.

A lot of confusion from both sides. The police are taking responsibility, so I'm guessing this check will come very quickly.

My only concern is the writer using this death to grind his ax on the police equipment. Batmobile??? I'm guessing he wants them to roll into Compton on ten speeds.

It's time to say that this just isn't good for anyone involved. Tragedy is too small a word for this event.

No. But maybe do a little research before pulling the trigger on a completely innocent person. Maybe communicate with another group that is making the correct arrest at the same time. Maybe not try to fabricate the deceased as some sort of accomplice to hide the mistake.

"Thompson didn’t respond to commands, instead remaining motionless with one hand under his head and another concealed near his waist. An object that looked like a gun lay nearby, Katz said. When flash-bang explosives failed to wake Thompson, SWAT deputies shot him with foam bullets.

At that point, Thompson suddenly pushed himself to his feet and ran toward an armored vehicle, Katz said. An officer in the vehicle’s turret shot Thompson twice in the upper torso with an M4 assault rifle, the Times reported."

Who lays down randomly in someone else's yard in the middle of the night?

I guess they eliminated the threat. He could have put a nasty smudge on that Bearcat.

Maybe someone who is very simple in his life.

He was 27 years old but possessed the mental faculties of a much younger man.

His age was 27, but mentally … he was probably 16,” Stanley told the Times.

When the SWAT team deploys one of these vehicles are the members inside protected against gun shots? If so, it's going to be hard to justify shooting a man walking at them with no gun.
