Racial Profiling in Minneapolis Suburb, Police Data Indicates

Featured Replies

Police in the suburban St. Paul area where a black man was shot and killed during a traffic stop have disproportionately arrested African-Americans, according to an analysis of data provided by the department that shows nearly half of the people arrested this year in the heavily-white community were black.

I thought so.

If half of all crimes are being committed by blacks than I see nothing wrong with the stat. Unless blacks are being falsely accused while cops are turning a blind eye to whites engaged in criminal activity, then what is wrong with this fact.

Do we know if they were justified or not? Were whites let go for similar crimes? Need more info.

Some numbers from the article:

7% of the population is black

Nearly half of those arrested in 2016 were black (not sure what nearly half is)

For comparison:

According to the FBI in 2013 blacks accounted for 29% of those arrested.

Blacks make up 13% of the population
