June 29, 201610 yr Is he the best overall player in the game? I'm really starting to think he just might be. Only 26 years old, and will easily eclipse the 1,000 career hits mark this season. He's Gold Glove caliber in the field, is a batting title contender every year, has enough pop to be dangerous, gets more than his share of BB, and steals a ton of bases. I think he's on the same level as guys like Trout, Harper, Cabrera etc....
June 29, 201610 yr He's the most underrated player in the game. He's an absolute machine & you rarely hear him mentioned when discussing the best players in the game. I play in a very competitive 16-team fantasy league & Altuve has been the 1st round selection for the past two (2) champions. Not necessary relevant to the thread, but I don't think it's a coincidence.
June 29, 201610 yr So far this season: .427 OBP, .350 AVG, 13 HR's (2 shy of his career high set in 2015), 45 RBI, 32 K's, 20 SB's & 56 runs in 78 games. He already has 107 hits, too.
June 29, 201610 yr More of a Tony Gwynn type player batting wise. Definitely plays the game hard and the right way.
June 29, 201610 yr I believe I started a thread last year asking which middle infield duo you would choose to start your team and I and some others said Altuve/Correa. Both are studs.
June 29, 201610 yr I don't know if he's the best, but he's my favorite player to watch... Great player!
June 29, 201610 yr Funny video of Trout and Altuve. Karma may explain Mike Trout's trip over second base near Jose Altuve | FOX Sports
June 29, 201610 yr Altuve is also has the most realistic chance to become the next hit king, although he's a long shot, too.
June 29, 201610 yr Altuve is also has the most realistic chance to become the next hit king, although he's a long shot, too. He'll never catch Ichiro.
June 29, 201610 yr Altuve is also has the most realistic chance to become the next hit king, although he's a long shot, too. Sorry for the confusing post -- I was trying to say that Altuve has the most realistic chance to surpass Pete Rose's hit record.
June 29, 201610 yr Author Altuve is also has the most realistic chance to become the next hit king, although he's a long shot, too. He's way ahead of Rose at this same point in his career IIRC. Worth noting Starlin Castro is the same age as Altuve and has over 100 more hits than him career wise.
